Always worth the almost 3 hour drive for us from Chicago. Everything we have tried has tasted great. We have tried the ribs, brisket, and wings, so delicious. True story, my son is a picky eater. I told him he was going to eat ribs because I wasn't getting anything else. I put 2 ribs on his plate and expecting to fight with him. He gave them a try and asked for more. Gave him 4 ribs, he ate those and asked for 2 more! He said they were good and so tender. This is coming from a teen that mainly orders Mac and Cheese wherever we go. Compliments to the chef! P.s. We have had many great meals at Hickory River. It is a great place to get very good barbeque quick and with friendly service. My husband loves their polish sausage and que-shoe (pulled pork over fries with queso). I love the pork nachos and smoked potato with pulled pork. They always remember us when we come in and welcome us back. Tonight there was a small issue with my son's chicken tenders, but the manager came out, apologized, made it right, and gave us a gift card for a future visit. Like I said, service done right. If you are looking for a quick meal at Grand Prairie that is filling, tastes good, and is delivered with a smile, look no further. Pretty great! We got the full rack of ribs dinner, which comes with two sides and a piece of cornbread (we ordered an additional so we could each have one) and split it. They very nicely brought it out on two separate plates without us having to ask. $36 before tip. The honey barbecue sauce was excellent! Mac & cheese and mashed potatoes were also great. The cornbread was a little too crumbly for us, but a nice size chunk. We’ll doubtlessly be back! Spent over $20 for a plate of sliced brisket. With sweetcorn and mashed potatoes and gravy as sides. Unfortunately, the brisket and mashed potatoes and gravy were barely warm. The only thing that was warm was the side dish of sweetcorn. Although it was like it was overcooked from being in the steam table for two days. Pointed out to the staff that soda had been spilt on the floor by another customer. Took them almost 15 minutes to finally decide and put out a wet floor sign and mop up the mess. One of the friendliest places I have been to in a long time. The service was great and the food was even better. I had the brisket sandwich with Mac and cheese with the chili. Had the combo2 with 4 ribs, 2 meats 2 sides and cornbread. I got 5 ribs (bonus!) These do not rate as my favorite ribs-I personally won't order again. They are a bit dry for my liking-but they do fall off the bone-personal preference I guess. The slices brisket and pulled pork was delicious! This is $27.00- bit you get a LOT of food. I took home most of the brisket and most of the pork- so those will each make really nice sandwiches. Stopped here for lunch and it was delicious! Got the sandwich special (pulled pork today) with 2 sides (I got both Mac n cheese) and a 20 oz drink for $9! Best deal I’ve ever seen for a good bbq lunch with sides! Fast friendly service, nice facility, the food was great! Will definitely be returning, many more menu items I’d like to try! Big menu with lots of options at great prices! Very similar to Mission BBQ who copied off Hickory River’s concept but I’d choose Hickory River any day. Hands down!

Excellent! First time here but certainly not the last! Love the food, Service and atmosphere! Prices are very fair! Ranks up there with some of the best barbeque restaurants we've been to anywhere in the country and we've traveled through all 48 States in the last several years. Love finding these gems as we travel the country!
