The Applebee's in torrington, ct was clean and respectable, (inside&out). The waitstaff was pleasant and atentative. Tasha my wife's and i'es waitress was very personable and friendly. The food was very good from the shrimp with alfredo and my wife's short ribs. TASTY..Were from bristol, ct and we were there for the passing of a dear friend.🥺 But if your out that way ever, stop in and have some great food. 1620 east main st. .....God bless us all, and as allways. Vennesa at the bar is very friendly and has a great personality. No mater how busy or slow she makes time to smile. Last time there dinner at the bar was a great experience. Food was good and much better than Chili's. Looking forward to returning. Just OK. Food quality isn't always consistent and just when we think we're done going here ...we have a decent meal that gives us hope again. Not ever going to be gourmet, and nothing spectacular but it's what you expect from a chain restaurant at this level. Takeout portions can be questionable and usually where we have most issues with our orders, so dining in is probably way to go. Everything else just average. There is 5 star service for the BAR ONLY. In the past few years we have "fired" the restaurant for lack of customer service (only seeing the waitress when they take your order and give you the check and NEVER in between) and for constantly getting simple orders wrong, sometimes never even getting the dinner salad that was ordered. Every few months we would go back and try again. On a particularly busy Friday night, we decided to eat at the bar. Not only have we never had an issue with our order, the service with Vanessa has always been spectacular. We have sat at tables twice since, due to the bar not having room, and we always regretted it, with absolute lack of customer service or the completely wrong order. This isn't surprising as the manager is always seen just standing at the bar talking to one group of people, which seem like friends based on how they talk, from when we arrive to the time we leave over an hour later every single time we see him in the restaurant. The same manager from 2020 who promised to provide assistance regarding his staff calling my sister a racial slur again was rude to me once again. I simply wanted to walk in since it was pouring outside and he does not provide proper attire for his servers to come outside and hand the food. I waited inside the curbside pick up area for 5 minutes and none of the staff approached me nor acknowledged me after staring at me for a while. Not seeing any inside instructions, I was confused on what they expected me to do next. So I looked to the right, saw my customers order and waited once grabbing it to see if the staff would come over. They came over real fast and checked my screen. Why didn't they come over before and instead stared me down? The manager came over and raised his voice at me and I felt very threatened, I explained I wasn't just taking the food, I wanted to verify with the server and didn't want them to run out in the pouring rain. I had an umbrella and a rain jacket, his staff does not. He still raised his voice and treated me very rude again "correcting me" in a threatening tone like he did in 2020. When I was walking out, he said, "they're getting blacklisted, they look like a scumbag anyways." I cant help but feel it's due to the color of my skin, once again, as he does not ever, in all my years living here, have any people of color as servers or staff that are seen, unless they are cooking in the back... kitchen etc. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
