What a great place to stop in Calistoga. You can actually get a nice glass of wine without scheduling a tasting. The outside seating is very chill. Stop here in Calistoga first and then judge the rest. The wine is very good. We had a very informative conversation with the owner. This was the only time so far we felt truly welcomed. Kudos to the owners for preserving the positive vibes that wine tasting used to be. Thanks.
Great tasting! Wine poured for us by one of the owners. The Pinot Meunier was a real treat for us, a wine that tasted different cold then it did at room temperature. Very knowledgeable about wine and the Calistoga area, this was a great first stop on our abbreviated wine journey on this trip to Calistoga. Enjoy
The woman who served our wine (apparently she is the owner/part owner of the winery) was rude to my group. We were a group of 7 and we kindly asked if we could move our tables together so that we could enjoy our tasting together. She was rude in her response of telling us we weren’t allowed to do push our tables together. I don’t understand how pushing two tables together would change/ruin any other customers experience. The table was light enough for me to move, I was happy to move it together and back where it was. The tasting was unorganized and unprofessional. At the end of the tasting the woman who had been pouring our wines chased my two sisters on the way out of the business and said (in front of MANY other customers) “you two didn’t pay for your tasting”. First of all, whether or not it was true that they hadn’t paid yet, it is EXTREMELY unprofessional and disrespectful to call out a customer in that way in front of many other people. As a fellow public servant/customer service worker, I would NEVER approach a customer that way. My sisters and I all work in customer service based jobs, and whether or not she was right about two of us needing to pay for two tastings, she handled that situation completely unprofessionally and rudely. My sister even asked if she treats all customers that way and she couldn’t answer the question, which showed me she knew that how she handled it was wrong. I didn’t enjoy my experience, even before any of this took place. The environment was negative and the woman who served us was not enjoyable. I will never re-visit this winery and I will be canceling my membership with them. Besides all of the terrible service we were given, the wine was no good.
We found August Briggs just from walking around the down town area and are so happy we decided to stop in. Colette was an amazing host and just so knowledgeable and friendly. The positive vibe made the tasting that much better.
We tried all 5 five wines on the tasting and ended up going home with two bottles :) I added the chocolate pairing to my selection...which is definitely a must!
If you are in the area this should be a stop on your list for sure!
We saw this winery by just driving through the town and decided to stop in! Not only was the host amazing, but she gave us such a great education on wine and what to look for while back home (in PA). The wines were amazing as well especially with the chocolate pairings!
What an outstanding wine experience in Napa. I've been tasting a lot of places here all the way through the central coast down to Paso over the past two decades, and this is really the best experience I've ever had. Exceptional wine quality, exceptional value, and a fantastic winemaker who's completely open about everything and teaches you about everything wine. This place is well worth the trip up to Calistoga.
We just finished a weekend in Napa and this was our favorite tasting of all the places we went. We didn't have an appointment (in a time where every winery seems to be requiring one) and they accommodated us quickly. I learned about the art of wine making and learned about each of the wines we were tasting. The wine was also very delicious! Thank you August Briggs
