We love the Barrio Queen at Desert ridge, but decided to try this one. Very disappointing. In a separate room due to party size (10). Very cold and uninviting atmosphere. Server was nice but super slow in bringing drinks, apps. , taking order and service in general. Establishment should have provided additional help or more seasoned server. Food came out cold. SO DELICIOUS!!!! Stopped in for a quick lunch and we had such a great meal! A very cool establishment with a great vibe and fantastic service. We couldn't believe how fast our food came out. We ordered a full plate of nachos and totally could have ordered the half for 2 people. They were fantastic! Loaded with delicious pork and cheesy goodness! Beautiful presentation and tasted equally as good! We also ordered 3 tacos and wow the corn tortilla was phenomenal, house made! We got Asada, pescado, and pollo + chorizo, all fantastic. Lots of food! Complimentary chips and salsa too. Fast and friendly service on a great patio. definitely recommend! I would not recommend this place to anyone with so many better and actually authentic Mexican restaurants in the area. Came in this afternoon for a late lunch. Place wasn't busy at all but it took 15 minutes for our server to come over just to get our drink order. The salsa served with the chips had zero flavor. I personally got a "premium" birria taco, al pastor taco, and two happy hour tacos. The "premium" taco came with a small amount of meat and was the most underwhelming birria taco I've ever had. The server forgot my al pastor taco all together and I had to order it again which ended up being underwhelming as well. The rest of the group with me all had similar opinions of their food being bland and overall disappointing experience of eating here. I've come to the conclusion that Barrio Queen is the "Mexican" Restaurant for the senior citizens of Sun City. Go down the street to Ajo Als instead. Our waitress was extremely nice and knew the menu well. That's always a super plus! The food was decent, and it was good flavors. Drinks were really good! 👌 not super crowded, really nice big booths. Went with friends, so it was nice and relaxing and comfy. Live music playing, which was a nice touch! The only problem was the dessert. My friend burnt her hand on the cast iron because they didn't have anything protecting the handle. Visited for happy hour yesterday. We had excellent service in the bar area by Jordan, the bar tender. He was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu items and happy hour.
