We love eating at BLT! The fish tacos with mango salsa are the best! If you want a good burger the Tavern burger is a great choice. It is a full 1/4 lb, topped with bacon, lettuce and tomatoes. The service is very prompt and the wait staff never misses a beat. They even recognize return customers. Food and service was excellent, the perch and sweet potato fries were awesome. The chopped steak was delicious as well. Portions were big enough as well. The dining room was a little small and very crowded so it was a bit loud. Service Dine in Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

We went there on a Sunday and it was pretty slow which was nice. We sat outside, but since it was dead the energy was low. The service was ok. We ordered the hamburger and flavor was delicious but it was just a small burger and regular bun. Nothing special. They would not allow you to order anything from inside and bring it outside including appetizers to go which was disappointing. The menu inside was much better. On vacation and we decided to give this place a try based on local recommendations. This place did not disappoint! In fact, we liked it so much that we came back for more 2 days later. Grandma's popcorn is a must, the fish tacos are heavily, and the perch sandwich was perfect! We highly recommend this place! We loved this restaurant! A beautiful day, large windows, indoor and outdoor seating. We had the fried cauliflower, blackened grouper sandwich, walleye sandwich, yellow belly perch dinner, and brownie sundae. All were excellent! Friendly, attentive service -- excited to go back! I continue to be mixed on Bear Lake Tavern for a couple of reasons. Some of the negatives were the size of the portions, very tight parking (nearly impossible with a trailer), and we felt like we were sitting on each other (cramped tighter than I've ever been in a restaurant). Positives included decent service for how busy they were, and friendly customers--everyone was in a good mood. I had the Walleye, a specialty of the tavern. As soon as my dinner was brought out, I felt disappointed. There was a small baked potato, two small sized fish pieces piled on top of each other (I separated), and a decent sized cup of cottage cheese in the middle. The potato was baked well, just small. The fish was fishy tasting and soggy--a complete disappointment for a "specialty". My girlfriend ordered the Land & Lake, also a specialty of the tavern. She was happier with her meal. As an appetizer, we had Grandma's Popcorn, which was a good sized bowl of popcorn, parmesan cheese and bacon. Although I wasn't a huge fan of the popcorn, it was addicting. We've been coming here for years, since we moved to the area. Staff is usually friendly, and food is usually fresh. The BLT used to be amazing, I craved it all the time and brought out of town guests to eat! But lately it has not been good. A couple weeks ago we ordered and the restaurant was slammed. We got our food and the usually super fresh and crispy bacon was soggy and half cooked. We gave a pass thinking it was a bad day. Tried again, and same thing, soggy half cooked bacon. Yucky. When you order a 1/2 lb BLT you expect the bacon to be cooked well. Please start making the bacon better like you used to. The last couple of times have not been appetizing. 2/10/2023 update: Really disappointed to see that other reviews who had received poor food were offered compensation in the form of a gift card. But not even an apology to us, who live down the street and have been eating here for years. If that doesn't indicate what type of management team they have, I don't know what does! The food portions are humongous , but the quality of food is bad. The only way anyone can enjoy their Japanese food is if they have never been to a Japanese restaurant before. Even the burger quality was substandard. It feels as if the chef has lost their zest for food.
