We love to come here to Boxcar Grille. They have great food and it's a great atmosphere as well. I recommend this restaurant if you're in the area and looking for a place to eat. They also cater for big events like weddings, work luncheons, family reunions, etc. This is just plain ole homemade food like your grandma used to make. Our waitress was very upbeat and great. The food was unfortunately very hit or miss. The rolls they serve are delicious. The chicken fried steak was great. The Mac and cheese was okay while I found the mashed potatoes tasteless but my partner enjoyed that while I took his French fries that he didn't like. Out of 2 orders of pork chops (2 chops each so 4 total) only one of four was not overcooked and dry, but it had a weird gamey taste to me that I've never had in pork before. The other three were dipped in the mashed potatoes or the white gravy from the chicken fried steak to get them down. It is weird that 4 pork chops of similar thickness came out at the same time with different levels of doneness, and was especially disappointed after being so highly recommended by the waitress. We just found this place tonight and it did not disappoint! We have fried mushrooms, salad bar, grilled chicken sandwich, and steak tips. All the food was fabulous but the fried mushroom appetizer was the best I've ever had and the biggest! Totally worth it. The salad bar was definitely one of the better ones I've seen in a long time, especially now that they're nearly a thing of the past. The decor was really cool and the staff was super friendly.
