Friendly and beautiful inside. Whites are done in stainless so they taste sweet and fresh and fruity. Like summer in a glass! Gorgeous woodwork glad we stopped in.

Excellent wines and soooo many to choose from! The atmosphere of the tasting room is inviting and the staff are very educated. I highly recommend a visit soon!

We had THE BEST time at Chris James Cellars! Not only were the wines unique, varied and DELICIOUS!, but the service was spectacular and the atmosphere amazing!! I'm sorry to say that I can't remember their names, but both women that helped us were fun, knowledgeable and friendly. We tried several varietals that I wasn't familiar with and they were all incredible! Chris James is one of the few tasting rooms that is absolutely on our list of "Will return to EVERY time we're in McMinnville"!

We loved our experience! Dustin, who catered to us and our flight, was very knowledgeable and knows his wines. I loved how, when he poured us wine, he gave us a mini story of where the wine came from. I am new to wine tasting and so I also appreciated the facts he gave us about grape skins, wine barrels, and the combination of fermenting. Thank you Dustin! Give that man a raise :)

Carlton winery sits perfectly nestled in picturesque scenery that completely compliments the vineyard. Visited the estate and then stopped in for a tasting at the downtown location. The owners are very kind. Chris (the sommelier) was very masterful and gave great descriptions of all the wines. We enjoyed the experience so much and purchased a few bottles to take home.

Wines were fantastic. Of course we all have our favorites but tried outside my usuals and learned so much! So much to choose from, many varietals from this winery. Our attendant was on point; there and not there at the right times. Provided great information. Highly recommend!

Great variety, and Chris was great. I really like and refer people to them for their variety of whites. I have known the owner/staff over the course of 3 years I lived up this way. They don't disappoint and you have some semi-sweet, unique blends, and fun tasting wines. You should go!

Our second time here! Such a great experience, helpful staff and delicious wine flights! We did their mixed flight again. A combination of various white and red wines. This time we bought a cheese plate and the charcuterie plate. Unfortunately, we found that the flavors of the various meats and the stronger flavored cheese tended to overpower some of the more subtle tastes in the various wines. Something to cleanse the pallet would have been helpful. But overall it was a great experience!

I stopped by here last weekend for a tasting. Loved the wines, the service, and that they have a great variety of food to order as well. I signed up for a membership I liked it so much! ☺ Maddie was a knowledgable server that really walked us through a great experience. There were quite a few people there but it was never slow service and the tables are nice and spaced out so you don't feel crowded. They even had some live music playing! They do an old-style Riesling that was nice, not super sweet and the reds are phenomenal (the Cuvee Rouge is my favorite!) They have Syrah and Zinfandel -- this isn't just a Pinot Noir place. But their 2018 Pinot Noir is fantastic too.
