Dear Potato has an inviting environment with a staff of Helena’s friendliest people. I am so thankful to have a place in town that offers much needed options for vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. The community has watched this business grow from a booth at the farmers market to our new favorite spot to enjoy meeting friends for a filling bite to eat.

I can’t tell you how excited and grateful I am to finally have some awesome vegan options in Helena! I tried the rosemary potato nooch piroshki and the meatball piroshki and they were both incredible. The employees were friendly, helpful and welcoming. And the vibe is so fun. So refreshing for Helena! I will be coming here a lot. Thank you!!!

When I heard that Dear Potato was opening a spot in Helena, I was ecstatic. I looked forward to a gluten free and vegan food spot that seemed like it would be affordable, accessible, and consistent. A much needed space in Helena! Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the actuality of this objective. I have had inconsistently prepared food, such as piroshkis that are too salty and just vary every time even if I order the same thing. I never know if I’ll actually like it even if I’d had it before. The hours that were originally promised were not held up to- which, to be granted is fair! Staffing and running a small business is hard, but everything seems to be out of stock and the options I had been told would be provided on Instagram hype posts are always out of supplies. I leave this review because I WANT Dear Potato to succeed. I want to enjoy late night, affordable piroshkis that are gluten free or vegan. The inside decor is amazing and spectacular but the seating is very limited. And I ask that Dear Potato be receptive to this. I am stoked about the spud squad being hired, and I have high expectations for the future of this business- y’all are SO LOVED! But I have to express my concerns because I want my voice to be heard. I want you to hold up to what I look forward to and anticipated. I want you to succeed, which is why I am trying to positively critique this as much I can. Cheers to more yummy goods, and a prosperous future for yummy goods in Helena!

Absolutely delicious and mind blowing that most of my meal was vegan! Very flavorful food and amazing desserts. We got the “beef and cheese” piroshki, the Seattle dog, and the garlic cheddar biscuit. Everything was delicious! You don’t want to miss out on this place. Also ordered a disco cookie and it was so sweet and the edible glitter was just an extra special little touch. Great service and awesome decorating. I appreciated the Wall to Dolly.

Everything about this place is nothing short of fabulous! I have only been able to make one visit so far, but I fell in love at the first bite of the most flavorful, perfect borscht I've ever tasted, and the "Nacho Pig" piroshki with cashew cheese, black beans, and corn was delightful. The cashew cheese have it such a unique flavor that paired flawlessly with the other flavors, and the breading was the most perfect, soft texture. Try dunking it in the borscht, you will not be disappointed! And to top it off...the pineapple upside down cake... what a completely divine delicacy! I have literally dreamt about that cake since my visit! Everything was incredibly fresh. They have a wonderful variety of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free foods so there's something for everyone's dietary needs/preferences. I admit, I have not had great experiences with vegan food in the past, but this place has totally flipped the script for me! They know how to do it right! The atmosphere and decor is different than any other eating establishment in Helena, in the best way. It's so fun and there's so much cool stuff to look at. They honestly have the coolest, and one of the cleanest bathrooms I've seen in a public place. 😆 It gave disco roller rink vibes! And lastly, the staff were so sweet and friendly and you can tell it's a fun, yet professional work environment. I cannot wait to go back! I want to try one of everything! 😅 I would love if they eventually expand to be open Saturdays. Dear Potato, welcome to Helena! I hope you'll be here for a very long time! We needed a place like this!

Unbelievable. Seriously… The more I looked around, the more I was amazed by how cozy and wonderful this place is.😭😭😭 From the lighting, to the AMAZING artwork, to the 2000’s vibe. And the fact that it’s maximalist but there’s also a really great corner for kids to hang out and play so it’s not overwhelming to bring my kids!!!!!😭❤️ Seriously did tear up because of how cozy, safe, and fun this whole place is. Every detail was thought of and executed PERFECTLY!!! AND THE FOOD!!!!🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 I’ve been a huge fan of dear potato since they were at the farmers market years ago and I’m just SO happy and thankful they opened up a shop and did such an amazing job!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
IM NOT DONE!!! THE SERVICE WAS AMAZING!!!! I was served by Jay and they are so nice and knowledgeable about the food. Everyone seemed busy, but not stressed out, which was so refreshing. SERIOUSLY AMAZING SPOT CANNOT RECCOMEND ENOUGH! I DONT EVEN KNOW THE OWNER THAT WELL BUT I FEEL LIKE A PROUD MOM AND THEY SHOULD BE SO PROUD OF THEMSELVES!!! Helena needed a spot like this. Thank you.❤️

the vibes are immaculate. the beautiful treats greet you from their glass cases as soon as you walk in, practically begging you to enjoy them underneath a bedazzled portrait of dolly parton. there’s something for literally everyone here! even your kids!!! cheapest, most delicious on-the-go breakfast in helena. my only regret is that i can’t eat here for every meal. EAT HERE NOW!

Dear Potato is an absolute Helena treasure. This place makes me so happy. From the salmon STUFFED piroshki and the decadent cake, to the maximalist decor of my childhood dreams, I cannot get enough. A Dolly Parton wall, murals by local artists, a space where you can watch your favorite old movies on VHS and eat warm piroshkis ? Yes please. Millennial dream. Highly recommend.

I had a delightful experience! The piroshkis were savory parcels of perfection, bursting with flavorful fillings. The GF disco cookie was a sweet revelation, achieving an ideal balance. The craftsmanship and taste showcased Dear Potato’s commitment to quality. I’m not a vegan nor do I need to eat GF, but wanted to try both options and was floored with how delicious everything was. I'll definitely be returning for more culinary delights!

The mood in this bakery is so delightful. Love the borsch with its herbs, Seattle dog is spicy delicious, I don’t know what the hell is in the vegan beef and cheese but it is freaky good. Something suitable for all omnivores and plant-based eaters. Come hungry.
