The biscuits were hot, fresh and tender. Absolutely delicious saw mill gravy. This has become one of my favorite restaurants in Winston-Salem. Unassuming and deliciously prepared food. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Very well priced, hot and fresh. Biscuit a bit dry but otherwise impressive. Very few places left like this. Cash only, during my visit there was only one server but they did a great job. I'm on that side of town often but had never gone into The Diner. I went there with relatives to get a late breakfast. The food was really good. I had sausage, eggs over medium(perfect) grits, and toast. Everyone ordered different breakfast items. The owner takes your order, serves, and pickup. There were nine of us, and we were served in a timely manner. She constantly checks to see if refills of your drinks are needed and if everything is OK. She talks to everyone and makes you feel welcome. A great atmosphere. I will be returning. Orders can be called in for pickup. Only cash is accepted because it's a small family business. The inside is spacious, with mostly booths. Small mom and pop's feel the moment I walk in. Hidden in the wall diner that if you didn't live in the area you most likely will miss. The menu was very simple and didn't give me a feeling of being overwhelmed and the food itself was very satisfying for the low price you will pay. The diner itself could use some revamping to bring a bit of liveliness to it but don't let that stop you from coming and having a meal. One con is that it is cash only and you would need to use a ATM to get cash if you didn't bring any. Family oriented and friendly! Small place, if you blink you might drive past it, but if you decide to stop and go inside you won't be disappointed! I've only ever gotten breakfast here, but it's top notch and reasonably priced. **CASH ONLY** but there is an atm on site! 😊 I'll definitely be back again, have never been disappointed! About 5 minutes from the Best Western at Hanes Mall, across the street from the BP gas station, is an old established firm, "the Diner". Good coffee, good breakfast. Besides the terrific small town service, I was impressed that they serve real sized eggs, not the small eggs served at corporate breakfast restaurants. My friends are enjoying the free cardboard breakfast served at the hotel. I, on the other hand, got a morning meal that will last until lunch. 😀👍

Breakfast was awesome! A forgotten gem in the city where it takes you back to the day when your local spot had great food and friendly customer service. You never know, you may meet or make a friend here while enjoying a meal.

This place is pretty awesome. I left 4 stars because you can't pay for the food either a credit or debit card, and must have cash. If you don't have cash on you however they do have an ATM machine conveniently located at you walk through the door of the restaurant. They have daily specials here from food off the hot bar, and a great selection of food on the menu. The atmosphere is friendly and clean, the waitresses are really nice. The parking lot was I have showed in the pictures is kind of tiny, but if its crowded you can park at the store across the street, and walk over. It's not too far of a walk. 1 person eating here will run close to $10 a head.
