I came here and it was not busy at all yet it took longer to get my water than my food. My server visited the table to get our drinks which were 2 waters and then left us waiting for over 10 minutes when we had been ready to place the order. We could see here sitting at an empty table doing nothing along with fellow employees so it was not like she had other tables to tend to. The atmosphere is great and the food is great as well, however the service was horrible and unacceptable. If you come here don’t expect to have great service as it’s rather unlikely. Came to El Amigo Mexican Grill place for dinner. When my friend and I came, were seated within minutes and ordered our dinner. I Ordered chicken chimichanga - glad I ordered it and ate most of it - very good, cooked well done. Pleased with overall experience and had wonderful waiter, Ismael , who did an awesome job - accurate order taken and got our food what we ordered. More than gets the job done. Craving some Mexican food then El Amigo is the spot in downtown Erie, but these are not cheap eats. Two entrees, cheese dip, and a large beer plus tip was over $50. The vegetarian fajitas were huge and delicious. The Burrito Vallarta was stuffed with chicken, steak, rice, and beans with shrimp, chorizo, and shrimp on top. I really enjoyed it. We are from Buffalo. Were looking for a Mexican restaurant to eat birria tacos. Decided to try them out and everything was delicious. Food came out quickly, big portions, and affordable prices. The atmosphere was good and excellent service by friendly staff. Recommend to anyone looking for good mexican food in Erie. Fajitas are my favourite thing to order at a restaurant and I think these are the best I’ve ever had!! I got the chicken and chorizo, they were grilled to perfection and so flavourful!! They come with three tortillas which isn’t enough for the amount of filling you get, but you can add more tortillas for $1. Also surprised I didn’t get cheese to put inside but that’s ok, it really didn’t need it. You get a complimentary basket of chips with salsa and we also ordered guacamole. Both were delicious. My husband on the other hand got the enchiladas and thought they were horrible. He said they were very bland. The meats didn’t appear to have any seasonings and there wasn’t much sauce on them. First time trying this restaurant and we really enjoyed it!! Our meals were delicious and very filling, and our waitress was sincere and kind.
