My family has been coming here my whole life and it’s absolutely my favorite restaurant in Yuma!! It’s hard to pick a favorite dish but If I had to choose, I’d have to pick the tamale dinner. Plan on sharing; a plate will serve two! The appetizer tortilla with cheese is a meal in itself. The chili, optional, is sweet, not a jalapeño. The watermelon margaritas are delicious! This place is always packed, and for good reason! Someone told us the restaurant had the best rice and beans. I figure they are all okay to bad; the rice and beans were different and delicious! A popular Mexican restaurant in the heart of Yuma, with a varied menu and colorful decor. The cheese crisp was unique and delicious…like a Mexican pizza as you’re able to add toppings as you wish. The salad was also very good…and both dishes were very hearty, with plenty of leftovers. The chips and salsa are complimentary too (at least the first round is). If you're looking for authentic Mexican food with real Mexican flavor, then this is the place for you. The food reminds me of Old Town San Diego without the tortillas🙂. We sat at the bar and received outstanding customer service from the bartender(Juan). El Charro should be proud to have someone like him around. You will receive a great welcoming from their staff. Great customer service. Staff takes great pride in ensuring customers don't wait to long before running out of drinks, unlike other places. Thanks again to the bartender for the great service. My wife and I were there on Tuesday for an early dinner to avoid the crowds. I had a Red Chili con Carne, beef, with a saddle and 2 folded beef tacos. My wife had the large Albondiga soup. For desert I ordered church's. Everything was excellent. Portions are generous. Our server, Vanessa was amazing. I hope this establishment recognizes her contribution to their success. Thanks again Vanessa! Atmosphere is noisy. I'd suggest a larger dining room but they'll just add more tables. Had the carnitas dinner plate consisting of a lot of shredded pork, served with really great beans, rice, corn tortillas and mummy green tomatillo salsa. A lot of food so leftovers were taken. Solid meal. I ordered the flautas to go. They have generous condiments of salsa and guacamole. Delish!! It doesn’t look like much from outside but inside is festive, colorful and the host/hostess and servers are wonderful. Lovely place - I highly recommend it. El Charro came highly recommended. The reviews were very good so my hopes were high when we went there. I was very disappointed. I know that every place has a bad day and that the food may not be as good some days. Maybe that's what happened the day we were there, so your experience may be better. There is a decent variety of options on the menu. My wife chose the bean and rice burrito and I got a plate with 3 folded tacos. First, we got the chips and salsa. The chips were nice. Probably made in house. They gave us 2 kinds of salsa and both were completely flavorless.Very disappointing. My tacos had more cheese than meat and the cheese was bland and very gummy. I tried taking most of it out. The shredded beef was pretty tasteless as well. My dish came with rice and beans. The rice was pretty good. The beans had a thick layer of the gummy, bland cheese. They didn't have a bad taste though. My wife was disappointed with her choice as well, stating that the beans were okay but she felt the rice was so bland she would have preferred white rice. Acoustically, this place is LOUD. It really detracts from the experience, IMO. I've had some excellent Mexican food while in Yuma, but I won't be returning to El Charro. The place is clean.
