Ordered Italian Beef catered for around 20 people. The cost was unbelievably reasonable and it was delicious. Everyone in attendance, all but one of who have never visited Chicago, raved about the food. A perfect Chicago neighborhood hot-dog and Italian beef joint. Tried it on a whim since I've been away from town so long and needed my beef fix. Visiting from Alabama, picked up my car, ordered a hot dog. GPS drove me around for 15 minutes. It was -15 , roads icy. We don't see stuff like this in Birmingham. I walk in and see 6-7 nice looking men in rolled up sleeve, black tee shirts. It was like a breath of fresh air. I had to take my coat off when I got to my car. Whooh! I'll start off and say huge fan of Jay's beef.. I kind of grew up on it.. finally came here to Frannies And it did not disappoint. If I had a side-by-side from this to Jay's beef I don't know if I'd be able to tell the difference. Love their beef love their fries their hot peppers are homemade fresh and delicious. Grew up on the Southside with Pop's beef. After recently moving to the Northside of Chicago, I have been searching for a good Italian beef sandwich that isn't too salty! I have tried MANY beef places that were recommended and have been extremely disappointed. Finally came across Frannie's! YAY!! The beef is very tender, juicy and not overly seasoned. Definitely my first choice to go for Italian beef in this area! I gave 4 stars because they do not give you enough beef(compared to Pop's Beef) and didn't care for flavor of sweet peppers. Did not try the fries. --Tried the chicken sandwich...BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! The size was similar to a small appetizer or a snack for a 3 yr old!
