Finally made it out to this place after living in the area for a few months and it was tasty! Here’s the review… The Food! Like I said, tasty. Good steamed red hots. Bun was steamed to perfection as well. Kinda Classic Chicago toppings? No pickles, tomatoes, neon relish, or celery salt. I love the fries. They are not the crispiest fry, but that’s ok. This style of fresh cut fry doesn’t need to be super crispy to be amazing. SKIP! The tamale. They are selling a $1 store bought tamale for almost $4. Just get another dog. Also, I understand having a stigma about ketchup on your dog, but fries and ketchup are a match made in heaven. Get off your high horse, and GET SOME FOR YOUR FRIES!!! Your customers would appreciate it. The Service! Quick and efficient. The only reason I’m deducting a star was because of staff behavior. Seemed like a bunch of high schoolers picking on each other behind the counter. Not very hospitable or welcoming. Just not the vibes you want. The atmosphere! Bare. There is nothing to this place other than a building and parking lot. There are greasy pieces of cardboard laying around. Seemed to have mustard on the walls near there stations. Nothing seemed very orderly to kept nice. Plenty of parking though, which is very nice. All in all! Gene & Jude’s was 4 stars. I really enjoyed my dog and fries and that’s what it’s all about. All the other stuff can be taken care of with the right management. I will be back! Thanks!
