Wow wow wow. Possibly the greatest food experience I’ve ever had. Prepare to have your mind challenged. Which is exactly what I enjoy in a great restaurant. Normally I’d go through each dish but on this occasion I think that would be disrespectful. This is such a special occasion I think you should go with an open mind use your imagination to be surprised.
The brilliant chef and his team have constructed a 16 course stunning degustation. The thoughts planning and testing must have taken a long time. It’s a journey of culinary brilliance that challenges your taste buds not to mention your mind. I was blown away dish after dish. So difficult to choose a favourite I have about 5.
Just to tickle your taste buds I’ll mention one of the 16. An amazing scallop dish that has 3 brilliant surprises. I’d advise to eat it with your eyes closed. You’ll be amazed.
I now have new favourite meats. Reindeer & Rock Ptarmigan a grouse like bird. I rate them above all others easily. I will post 1 photo as a teaser. It’s obviously a crustacean but what will you taste.
Their menu includes the statement “a moment of exception” no better words could describe it.
A minor apology to my brilliant waiter and excellent sommelier. The waiter was professional and great at describing each dish with pride as well. Great conversations about the food and how it not only tasted but differences due each ingredient.
My sommelier was outstanding. First in choice of pairings second in her friendly demeanour third in her engaging with fun and a few laughs. Her knowledge of the wines and how they paired with the food was impressive to listen to.
Another apology to V the manager. She was wonderful to talk to happy to have a joke. Then she took us on an adventure well a grand tour of a grand old building. Even the wine cellar with 15,000 wines. Her enthusiasm in explaining the long history and current use of the massive building was infectious. Her knowledge amazing she clearly loves the building and I can see why.
A big thank you and congratulations to Alberto and his amazing team. An experience I will never forget.

Our first dinner in Longyearbyen was at Huset (1 year ago) and it was a wonderful experience. We took a taxi to the restaurant, but it is also a possibility to walk there (still a longer walk). The hosts were quite welcoming and made sure to explain every dish and wine pairing to us. I have to say that the visual plating was impressive, and it made a great pairing with the tasty food. The menu reflected the Svalbard ensemble and nature. Would love to go back!

A must! I wouldn’t be surprised if they got a michelin star soon. Chef Alberto and his team put on a great show. Delicious local snd Artic food. Great service! Not to be missed in town.

The restaurant is quite far from the city centre for Longyearbyen standards, but it's a nice walk in the right weather. The building seems like an old residential block. But inside it's a nice venue with a pub and a restaurant. The restaurant itself is small. And at least at the time we were there (October) was understaffed. The plates came late despite the fact that it wasn't busy. There was little care in finding out what we wished for (no one offered to show us the wine menu or take any drinks orders). The Arctic menu was good. Small portions, but interesting local ingredients (seal, reindeer, ptarmigan, and different types of herbs and weeds) prepared creatively with good cooking technique. The price was high for the experience, but considering it's a remote island and it's part of Norway, it's reasonable.

We enjoyed a lovely tasting menu evening here. Kudos to Jan Eric for the service. The food tasted delicious, and we were pleasantly surprised to find fine dining in Svalbard.
