This was REALLY good. We usually go to Jalepeno’s in Pontiac if we want good Mexican but decided to try the Clarkston one. Love the vibe inside and the food was amazing. The staff was really friendly too. We went during lunch and had our food within about 10 mins. We will definitely be going back. So my friend and I were there again last night and we were disappointed, not sure what they have changed but the beef in our food didn't have the same flavor as before. I ordered a sangrita (sangria and margarita mixture) with salt, they used to be a ruby color, this was a light pink and had table salt around the rim. I’ve tried this place a few times over the last 10 yes as It’s so close to my house that I want to like this place..but every time I come there’s always a reason why I find an issue… we don’t have this or that… every time I come… why haven’t you updated your menu if you never have things… example Tres leches cake come to find out a server told me the Clarkston location never has it.. and a mojito can’t make those either tonight. seriously guess that’s my que to drive to Lake Orion to my old faithful spot… and the service is less than mediocre AT BEST just throwing that out there.. 2/5. Overall not a great experience. Pontiac location is so much better. I got the flautas from both locations. Pontiac presented the food very nicely, it looked clean & fresh & was still hot after a 10 minute drive. My flautas were covered with fresh avocado slices. My order from the clarkston location was subpar. The food was picked up on time & was cold, presentation was messy, & it came with ONE tiny slice of avocado with brown spots. The service at the clarkston location was slow - bartender was on the phone for several minutes while I waited. The hostess who sent me to the bar peeked her head around the saloon doors, made eye contact with me as I smiled & then popped her head back in & walked away. There were several other servers standing in the back who didn’t help/acknowledge me either. Once the bartender was available to help me she did a pretty good job & was friendly. This place was awful. Terrible service. The staff spent most of there time sitting in a booth, doing nothing. Had to get up and order drinks from the bar myself. Food did not taste good. When I first sat down waited 20 minutes before a server even came to the table. Do yourself a favor, go to Sagebrush Lake Orion. The food here is great authentic Mexican food. Service was great and the food came out quickly and was delicious. We had shrimp tacos and a Texas burrito. The fish tacos are very good as well.
