Had been to JJ's right after they opened the doors. They were just hitting there stride, and the service was excellent. We took two other couples from our neighborhood there today, and had a great time. Ellie waited on us and is the perfect blend of friendly and humorous. The food was excellent and interesting. Most had sandwiches, tenderloin, nashville hot chicken, big pig(?), and my wife had a pesto chicken salad. Comments ranged from really good to great! Two of our party ordered the sweet potato fries and loved them. Owners came out to meet/greet with us. Wonderful people! Friendly, nice atmosphere, good food, attentive staff....what more could you ask for? How about a dessert flight? Three desserts (your choice) and enough to share. Ellie even brought out a fourth that had been accidentally plated, because hey, why not? Today was their ribbon cutting, and we will definitely be going back again.

Came in 1 hour before closing, no other customers. The food was good, but beers not very cold (we didn't complain).
They were having buffering trouble with streaming sports on 12 different screens, ISU basketball was on 4 different screens, and at 4 different places in the game (I probably would have turned 3 screens off)... streaming music also was messed up, repeatedly skipping mid-song to the next track, rather annoying. They were clearly aware of this, but left it running anyway. And finally, there are zero decorations other than the TVs. Got the impression online that they recently had moved to this location, but needs some work yet.

The food was excellent.
My only complaint is I was hoping to order a cocktail with vermouth, but I saw the vermouth was out with the rest of the bottles. Common mistake. Vermouth is wine, so it oxidizes if you leave it out after opening. Throw that Martini & Rossi in the fridge and I promise next time I'll order something that uses it :)

We visited here as we'd heard positive things, and I had been craving a good fried fish.
We started with the White Cheddar Cheese Curds. These may very well been the best we'd had. Lightly breaded, with a nice gooey cheese in the center.
She had the JJ's burger; with it and the appetizer at happy hour prices were an incredible value. Sweet potato waffle fries were a delicious surprise.
The fried walleye was a massive piece of fish. The breading is a bit thick, but very flavorful. Steak fries, coleslaw, hush puppies and a tasty tartar sauce really made the meal complete. All were great.
We treated ourselves to a "desert flight" which were all quite excellent.
Staff were very friendly, and Rick (owner) made sure we had all we needed. He shared a great story of how the name of the tavern and grill came to be, so be sure to ask him about it when you visit!

JJ's Tavern and Grill for the win! ❤️ We've been a couple of times now, and it's been great!
We've had the Brussel sprouts, cheese curds, rigatoni alla Vodka, 4 cheese Mac and kids mac... all have been phenomenal!! The kids asked to come back just 2 days after we tried it the first time.
Our sever Jay was also amazing and very attentive.
For sure a new go-to spot!

The food was AMAZING! The staff was top-notch (friendly, helpful, hard-working)! The owners are friendly and the origin story of the restaurant is great. This is a MUST-GO if you are looking for a place to eat!
