La Taverna Restaurant in Lienz

La Taverna is a cozy restaurant located in the basement of the 4-star Hotel Traube in Lienz. It is highly recommended to reserve a table, as the restaurant is usually filled with customers. Despite the full house, the staff were very friendly and the wait for the food was relatively short. The kitchen is open and you can watch the chef at work. We had carpaccio and a steak on rucola, which was VERY good! There are also more affordable dishes such as pizza, pasta or dumplings. We would definitely come back. The atmosphere is lovely, just a few minutes' walk from the main square of Lienz. You can find both Italian and Tyrolean dishes, so vegetarians have plenty of options to choose from. The prices are reasonable and the service is friendly. However, it would be nice to have at least some Italian language skills. The pizza is truly a masterpiece. Unfortunately, since the change of management, there are no pizzas on the menu anymore and the quality has dropped significantly. Prices have also increased. The staff could also be more attentive. All in all, La Taverna is a great place to eat with delicious food, friendly personnel and an inviting atmosphere. Highly recommended!
