Honestly we really like this place. The sandwiches and burgers are super good. We recently wanted to try the pizzas. We each got our own pizzas and they were just horrible. They could have been cooked longer they were super floppy, and they had way too much cheese on them. I’m a cheese head, I love cheese, but the cheese on this was too much, it wasn’t even fully melted that’s how much cheese there was on it. I hate leaving a review like this but I feel like people should know our experience. We paid $53 for 3 small pizzas expecting them to be super good and they just did not live up to the price. For a mixed cuisine chain restaurant, Mackenzie River in Rapid City is surprisingly good. For a non-pizza restaurant, their pizza is simply amazing, better than most actual pizza places. The Cowboy pizza specifically is just great. The Fish and Chips are really good also, although (and I admit this is a big deal for me and maybe not so much for others) but french fries are Not chips! The staff seemed to be short a few people the way they had to hurry around but honestly we hardly noticed because our server was on it. Great food and wonderful atmosphere. I ordered the fettuccine but the pizzas my husband ate were top notch Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I was there for lunch for the first time just over a week ago. I was going to meet somebody for the first time in a casual, non-romantic context. The food was absolutely delicious with the exception of my cole slaw. I don't know how long that had been sitting around, but it tasted spoiled. However, the fish and chips more than made up for it. I would love to have them again and would come back for that dish alone. The fish was perfectly moist and flaked easily and the fries were well-seasoned. I did feel like it was too dark inside the restaurant, and that and the cole slaw are the only reason for my 4 stars. I will be returning while working in the Rapid City area! First time here and it was a fantastic experience. We were immediately seated, the staff was very nice, and the food was delicious. I will definitely be coming back here when in town. Ok, first of all this place has always had a really great atmosphere about it! Cozy and comfortable seating with really nice lighting definitely sets the mood. The food is also really good and is priced adequately. The only reason this place will get a 4 star from me instead of a 5 star is the consistency of service. It's a box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get! Our service was average at best this last time, and nonexistent the time before that! Some people have had amazing service here. This place definitely deserves your time and money. That is the most important part. Love this place! I've been here many times now, and never had a lackluster dish here yet. In the busiest parts of the day, especially in the summer, getting a seat can take a while, but it seems like it's that way everywhere. Their service is great, though, never had an unpleasant experience with them. They have a decent loyalty system as well, plus some delicious, cheaper "food truck" dishes. Gluten free options are available (a desert, pizza crust, dunno about burger buns). This is definitely my favorite place to eat in Rapid, and I highly recommend eating here! 👍👍
