The recipe for success of this restaurant is its good bread pudding, caramel ice cream and flans. It's nice to taste delicious beer, michelada or liqueur. Order great chocolate frappe, ice tea or juice. The homely atmosphere of Masalatina allows guests to relax after a hard working day. The high ratings of this place wouldn't be possible without the patient staff. Spectacular service is something that people note in their comments. The few times I've came here, they only have one server for the entire place, including the bar. I had to get up and ask for my own refills, napkins, etc, and so did the other customers. I don't blame the server, I blame management for not being willing to hire an extra person to make guests have a relaxing, enjoyable experience. Today as I was walking out, there was two ladies who were extremely upset about the exact same reason. Needless to say I feel they only care about making money and not about their customers...😒

2.24.24 One wait staff and the bartender. 4 tables occupied. New Menu. While everyone around us were being catered to, we waited for about 10 minutes for service. We got chips and salsa and no water? No more complimentary chicharrones. When we got our water, we were asked if we wanted more chips. We waited and waited. They took our order. Everyone around us was getting refills on chips and salsa and water. The bartender started to assist with the tables and still we were ignored. At one of the tables, they had to add more simple syrup to a customers agua fresca drink. Once we got our food, we then asked for tortilla chips. The food was not as good as I remember before COVID. Everything on the plate was room temp and seasoned lightly. Masa Latina has lost it uniqueness that it opened with years ago. Where has this place been hiding? My husband found this place on Yelp, so we decided to give it a try. Thank goodness we did! We sat at the bar and our bartender, Cynthia, was attentive and jovial. The patrons were welcoming and friendly even though this quaint place was a bit off the beaten path. The food was excellent! We ordered a bit of everything: salsa sampler, guacamole (has heat), a puffy taco, an arepa, three empenadas, a pupusa, and a street taco. Each was filled with a variety of choice meats: chicken, carnitas, carne asada, shredded beef, and (oddly my favorite) ground beef. Everything is homemade, even their most delicious, soft, made to order corn tortillas. I seriously just told my husband that I wanted to go back already, and we just ate their last night. The lady next to is got the shrimp ceviche. I almost did, and I'm glad I didn't because she told me that it carries a lot of heat. Go for it spice lovers. They have a full bar and carry 8 varieties of Berringer wine; everything from bubbles, Moscato, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cab. The place was clean, and the bathrooms were spotless.
