We accidentally found this place driving around with hungry kids in Duluth. I am so glad we did! The atmosphere and food were wonderful. Great view of the lake in a gorgeous historic building. The food was wonderful. The burgers, onion rings, and fries were so good. Even food from the kids menu was delicious and not prepackaged. Came here on vacation from Kansas. Love to have local cuisine when we travel. The walleye sandwich was excellent. Claire was our waitress. She is a doll, and super friendly. Answered all of our questions and even though it was busy for lunch she handled it with a contagious smile. Definitely recommend this place to anyone. Oh, and the onion rings are amazing! Thank you. We had dinner here for our anniversary. We ended up eating too big of a lunch so at Pickwick we just ordered sandwiches. My husband chose the Superior Street dip with onion rings, and my choice was the charcoal grilled burger with caesar salad. Everything was excellent. Our server Julie was great, we didn't see her stop running around all the tables the whole time. Did didn't take very long to arrive either. I asked for a table by the window when I made the reservation. We were given what I asked but unfortunately I forgot how early it gets dark so we couldn't see the lake at all, oh well! We'd definitely come back here. We would like to try the steaks and sit in the next room over which looked much more cozy than the room we were in with the faded murals. Enjoyed happy hour (pub only, 3-5) on an early winter evening. Great deals on draft beers ($4/pint or less) and discounts on appetizers including excellent smoked fish platter and some of the best onion rings around. We have been going to Pickwick the last few years for my birthday, and we just love it! Everything is just wonderful. We started with an app order of onion rings. I got the porkchops & onion rings, and my wife got the tenderloin tidbits & mashed potatoes. You also get salad, vegetables & bread. The food was very good and our server was excellent! Loved the smoked fish app we got and my sister’s caramel apple martini was delicious! A tad loud and felt a little like we needed to yell to hear each other but we were seated in the bar area so it wasn’t completely unexpected! 20+ years ago I visited the place for the first time. I was impressed then, and had another (my 3rd) good experience. I don’t get to this area often enough to try it more, but when I’m around, it’s in my list. This place opened in 1888 (135 years ago as of 2023 for those not wanting to do the math), and it’s been in its current location since 1914 (109 years ago as of 2023 for those not wanting to do the math). That’s an incredible amount of time in the same location. If you’re willing to wait, or get lucky, there are some tables right on the back end that are on the water, and a lot of glass to look through. It’s a very beautiful building and beautiful view to go with it. Any spot in here will be a nice one, but the glass view of the Great Lake is frosting on the cake. Service has always been good and so has the cleanliness been. It may be an old building, but they have people who know how to cook and who know how to treat the guests. This place will always be on my list of places to return to. Good meal and good service. Give it a try if you’re in the area. This was on my list to try this summer and l got there on my birthday! ❤️ The food was beyond delicious! I had the Fresh Berry Salad. It was huge and so full of berries and various lettuces with candied nuts and incredible dressing. Next time l will ask for the dressing on the side. It was a lot and not too necessary since there were so many sweet good flavors in the salad. For dessert, my guy had the Classic Red Velvet Cake…it weighed more than his entree! lol The frosting was perfect and the flavor of cake left no bitter aftertaste. I had the Apple Crisp, so fresh and sweet, it was really good. Half of both desserts went home with us and they were delicious the next day too. The service we experienced wasn’t the best. Our wait person had a visitor and much time was spent talking instead of following up with customers. That was disappointing and if we go back, l hope we have a server who is more attentive to customers.

Another amazing restaurant with another amazing view. Trust me.. ask if they have a view available! The large order of onion rings is HUGE.. even for 2 people. The jalapeno burger poppers were an absolute delight. My burger was good.. but that's it, nothing to write home about.
