We use Present Tense Bar for all of our events! The level of service they provide is unmatched, and they are very accommodating and easy to work with. Amazing cocktails, too! Derek, the owner, is always a pleasure to work with! I would highly recommend.

Derek Mercer from Present Tense Bar did a great job bartending for our ~85 person event! He was on time, professional, and friendly. He was able to accommodate us providing our own alcohol, and even had extra cups in his car just in case we ran out. I would recommend Present Tense Bar for any event.

Derek and Megan hosted a cocktail making class for a group of parents from my daughter's school. From our first communication Derek was professional, organized, and FUN! Everyone commented on how delicious the drinks were, and how entertaining and engaging Derek was throughout the night. I would hire Derek again in a heartbeat for any bartending needs or cocktail making classes.

I've used Present Tense Bar for events at our gym Windy City and personally for gatherings with friends and family. I cannot say enough about these cocktails! For our events, Derek's professionalism and attention to detail was so appreciated and really made our events memorable. Whether it was rolling out the mobile bar or thoughtfully pairing snacks that would go well with each cocktail, Derek and his team really went over to the top to deliver! Each time I've ordered cocktails for personal use, my friends and family always comment on the cute packaging and where they can get their hands on these premade cocktails. The smaller ones are perfect for gifting as well! If you're thinking about trying them out, DO IT! You won't regret it and your friends will think you put in so much effort into your fancy cocktails when all you did was pour it over ice.

I've gotten to know the owner Derek personally and have to say the service and personality behind the company is stellar. I have had Present Tense tend bar for events and have always had an awesome experience. All members of the Present Tense team are friendly, knowledgeable and professional and the drinks are stellar, always creative! Plenty of custom options available if desired and they make a mean old fashioned.

I just ordered from Present Tense for Chicago Restaurant Week and let me just say I only leave reviews when things are really, really good or really, really bad. Fortunately, this is one of those amazing experiences that I had to share. My husband and I already love the cocktails from Present Tense. We especially love the margaritas and punch (be forewarned they’re strong and tasty so hide those legal documents). We’ve tried a few of the bar snacks and really liked them but weren’t sure how entrees would be. They were AH-mazing! We started with the BLT dip and ate way too much of it. It was so good that I hope they keep it on the menu so I can bring it to picnics and claim I made it. Then, I had the red chile braised pork. I filled up a little too much on the BLT dip so I ate half of it the first night like a soup and then saved some the next day at ate it like nachos. I felt like someone’s grandma made it for me and filled it up with comfort and love. It tasted like a hug. For dessert, we got the Chess pie and the apple crumble. Both were really, really good but the Chess pie was the clear winner. I love being able to eat high quality food without leaving my couch (or putting on real pants)!

I highly recommend Present Tense Bar if you're looking for creative and tasty drinks as well as top quality service for your next event! I met the owner at a farmers market and shortly booked him for our house concert series. Derek was easy to communicate and collaborate with. He created three specialty cocktails inspired by the artists performing and executed them flawlessly. I have to say Derek and his team really go above and beyond while bringing a sense of ease and positivity. They demonstrated this amongst last minute changes on our end due to rain and when our show went over time (due to a few encore songs) Present Tense Bar stayed to give our guests a last call on drinks. If your booking for a private party, work happy hour, fundraising event, wedding, concert, album release party or anything else you can think of, reach out to Present Tense Bar. Derek and his team will come through!
