Love dining at Riks! Stopped by for lunch today and hubby and I each had Southwestern Reuben Sandwich, fries (best in the whole county, by the way!) with a side of hot crab dip! Spectacular!! Traveling through and found this incredible gem. The service was attentive and personable. The food was served to perfection. One of the best turkey reuben I ever had. The sweet potato fries were insanely good. The perfect ratio of meat to sauerkraut and cheese. I highly recommend this restaurant. We came here for an early dinner on a whim. Absolutely pleased with everything about our experience. Our server, Andrea, was cheerful, nice and wonderful with our son. She was very attentive to our table and dropped by to check on us the perfect amount. Our food came out quickly, and was absolutely delicious! The Bison Burger was my choice - and was cooked to perfection. After savouring every bite we were then shown the deserts - which we just had to partake in. Our son was particularly excited for the maraschino cherries - but the item he picked did not come with them. But Andrea said she would see what she could do - and the cake came out with several cherries. An absolutely perfect dinner from beginning to end. We will have to stop by again soon! Excellent food! I had the pretzel crab dip as an appetizer and it was very good, coated in old bay. The ahi tacos were amazing! A bit hard to eat but the flavors were great. Wow! Totally amazed with the service and the Food!! We have searched for a good crab cake in hagerstown and by golly we found it! Everything from the chicken wing appetizers to the scrumptious desserts were mouth watering and amazing. Trent was our waiter and he was attentive friendly and observant. I had been looking forward to a meal here after seeing the photos online. The food did not disappoint. I started with the Watermelon refresher. It was a very summery tropical drink. For an app, we had the tuna. It was nicely sauced and a good portion for an app I had the drunken mushroom, shrimp and mussels. The proteins were cooked perfectly, and the sauce was great. Arrived around 8:45 pm and sat at the bar. Service was prompt on the first round. The second round not so much. Enjoyed the drinks though, draft beer and my wife had a martini. Food was ordered promptly with our first round of drinks after looking over the menu. I chose the crab grilled cheese while my wife ordered the crab pretzel. After an inordinate wait our food arrived. I’ll start with mine. Fries were limp and only slightly warm. I surmise, that stemmed from the fact, that my sandwich was sitting while my wife’s order was still being prepared. Sandwich was only warm enough to eat for about 5 minutes. After that it was room temp and the fact it was freezing cold didn’t help. So, the kitchen has a timing issue with service and they took plenty of time to get it right. I also observed a cackling woman get her entree delivered with her soup, which she reminded the server was missing. Additionally, I think that sandwich would improve immensely with bacon and fresh sliced tomato. It needed some acidity to cut through the fattiness which I think the tomato would accomplish and bacons always good. The crab and cheese was tasty if not a bit rich tasting. On the other hand, my wife’s crab pretzel was piping hot and the server forewarned about the top plate being very hot. Probably just came out of the broiler. Very tasty, good ratio of pretzel to crab and cheese. And that could probably get 5 stars on its own. She enjoyed it very much. Could be a 4.5 star restaurant but not this night and not for me. I loved the art on the walls, but I came here alone while on vacation, and I just felt the employees staring at me. However, my server Travis was very friendly and helpful to find drinks and food choices. I already kind of thought about the food and drink before hand but he also recommended it before/during picking it. Drinks were little strong but not bad. Food was good, I really liked the apple butter with the sweet potato fries, it was a nice touch. The mango jerk chicken sandwich was messy but also good. Every time…I mean EVERY time I go to Rik’s, I get outstanding customer service and the food is delicious! My daughter and I shared and enjoyed the fresh Caesar salad with shaved parm,(crunchy, fresh romaine…I never have to pick out old, brown leafs), bbq wings(yes they come out with a little crisp before they are sauced)-yum, cheesy-to-the -max mac n cheese, and their signature hand-cut fries! I haven’t had a bad thing yet! Prices are reasonable and there is a full bar. Clean restaurant, family-owned, awesome staff, delicious eats!
