Sammy's Pizza in West Duluth is the best! Of course, the best way to enjoy a pizza is in the restaurant, but the addition of delivery is second best! The pepperoni and sausage pizza arrived piping hot and hit the spot! The buffalo wings are also delicious! I look forward to my next visit very soon!

Absolutely awesome experience today. Our server got us seated right away even though it was extremely busy. He consistently made sure our needs were met despite how insanely busy it was. The buffet is always a little risky during the lunch rush since everyone is grabbing the fresh pizza but that pizza was getting refreshed constantly as well as the chicken and pasta. While we were there, 5-6 different times the picked over food was replaced with fresh food and the staff was constantly monitoring to make sure it remained fresh. Last night our family was at a different restaurant and poor service and long wait was blamed on the place being packed - well Sammy's here proves service can still be stellar in those circumstances. This was my favorite pizza place in Duluth. I ordered my pizza today and they have stopped offering anchovies as a topping. For me, it's a sign of a seriously good pizza place if they have anchovies on the menu. They have gone from a 5 star down to a 3 star. For those who don't care for anchovies beware. They have lost my respect and maybe they should lose yours too. C'mon! A serious pizza place without anchovies on the menu? You don't even offer it anymore!! Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

We still frequent this Sammy's because of the buffet. Even though its a higher priced buffet it still comes out to be cheaper than if everyone ordered a variety of pizzas. The only problem is that it's hit or miss as to whether or not more pizza will come out. If it's slow the pizza will sit there for a while before something new comes out. If it's busy you'll get fresh pizza but you have to get up there before, or with, everyone else right away. Otherwise you'll be waiting for them to bring out more. There would be a better (table) turnover for the servers if the pizzas came out faster. I really like the cold pastas on the salad bar but those too are hit and miss because they're made differently each time. The original wings are always a win and there is always a second flavored wing. The two soups and warm pasta are a nice option to fill up on when you're tired of waiting for pizza to come out. The veggie pizza and crew special are the best. The macaroni pizza is disturbing (haha) but I get it; kids like it. The cookies they offer on the way out are a nice treat. They're not too sweet and not too big so you don't feel gluttonous after having that sugar snack many crave after a meal. On our last visit we noticed, at the bottom of our receipt, that they charge more if you use a card vs cash. I realize smaller businesses do this but don't most well established businesses (like Sammy's) include that in their overhead? I don't know how long it's been like that as we don't go that often but It's pretty disappointing. Regardless of the price and service I ALWAYS suggest (any) Sammy's when people ask where to get the best pizza, especially people new to the area. I don't usually like thin crust but Sammy's makes it work. The balance of sauce, cheese and crust is great! Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

Had Thin crust pizza and garlic cheese bread. A bit pricey, I thought, though it could have been worse. Lots of old people there. Pizza was good and we thought the thin crust was very tasty (didn't know it was going to be thin - and I usually don't so thin cause I'm cheap). Good atmosphere except a section had chairs up on tables which didn't help the look. Good service. Possible I'd try it again next time I'm here. We ordered their famous cheese garlic bread and a veggie pizza (medium). The garlic bread was too buttery; little uncooked but tasted fine. The pizza, on the other hand, had a hard crust and did not taste good at all. It tasted like a typical dominos pizza except the extra hard crust!
