Calamari is freshly sliced & prepared upon order - it's amazingly delicious. Clam chowder was incredible - my Dad said it was some of the best he's had. The bread was warm & fresh - easy, but not always found at restaurants. Food portions are generous. Cocktails are also fabulous - nice balance & flavor. One night in Monterrey and we went looking for food, we wanted somewhere local and not overly touristy. This was a great find, had sand dabs(never heard of these) Also had some Oysters, then for mains we had seared ahi tuna and schnitzel. All the food was lovely, we sat at the bar and the gentleman that served was really nice, friendly and knowledgeable. I had noodles with the tuna, not my fave, nothing wrong with them just not my thing. We also had a couple of cocktails, margarita and old fashioned - top notch. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

It is harder to find on the marina pier (the one on the right when facing the ocean). You can not see it from the street. The food was excellent and the prices were easy on your wallet. The view priceless!🙂 We had the calamari appetizer, bowl of clam chowder (which was over the top), and the sand dab lunch plate (that came with fries). We had clam chowder three times in Monterey, and the SandBar chowder was heads and shoulders above the rest!😋 My wife had a Pasa Robles chardonay, and I had a diet coke. The sand dabs were a clear winner over the fish and chips. Lightly breaded, flavorful, and light. The tartar sauce had kippers, which was a nice touch! The calamari was not strips cut out of a steak, and was tender and lightly breaded. We came here after our whale watching trip was cancelled by The Sea Goddess without notice (ugh) so needless to say we were in a bad mood. However being in this restaurant really lifted our spirits. The place is so cute and the people and service was great. The food is okay but my grandson absolutely loved his burger!! It did look amazing LOL. Thank you to the people who run the restaurant because after being totally disrespected by The Sea Goddess, The Sandbar Bar and. Grill showed us great customer service still exists.
