We were looking for a restaurant close to the Pickwick so we wouldn't have to move our car and took a chance on Silvers Grill. We're so happy we did! Our server Melanie was cheerful and attentive (always a good start; I can cook a great meal at home but the service is what makes an enjoyable meal out). Our cocktails were mixed properly. I ordered the Popeye Chicken Sandwich with a salad and my wife had the Chicken Wrap with fries. Both sandwiches were exceptionally tasty for fairly simple fare. What we really appreciated was the freshness of the produce: lettuce and cucumber in the salad were crisp and tasty and the bell peppers added to the Chicken Wrap (wrapped, pressed and grilled for a little crunch) set the flavor apart from a typical wrap. Even the tomatoes were surprisingly good for off-season. And not to forget proper French fries. Crinkle-cut with no batter coating. Light, crisp and tasty. Hey, I'm picky about my fries! I won't be too harsh on this place but service was SOOOOOO SLOW and for the food I was disappointed. I felt like I fell into the place where time stood still. We walked and were greeted promptly. The ladies running the front end as servers, hostesses etc. were so nice and attentive. I wouldn't have been surprised if they were working the back too seeing that I didn't get a good look into the kitchen. The interior design felt modern with a bit of casual dining sprinkled in. Not bad looking at all. Plenty of space for movement with the placement of the tables. The menu had a mixture of different foods but the main appetizers and entrees felt like they were leaving towards Greek/Mediterranean cuisines. The menu does offer American entrees and sandwiches as well. After we ordered our drinks and the server brought us complimentary bread (it's warm!) We waited. And waited. And waited. It was @ least 45 mins to an hr before our food came out. I wanna say that we were seated @ 6:10pm and the food wasn't served until after 7pm. We did order the pork kabobs appetizer (Was great btw) which didn't take long. But the servers knew our food was taking a while so they offered us more bread. I had to leave to pick up our daughter from a cooking class about 5 mins away, so I stepped away a little before 7pm and my wife stayed behind. Soon as I stepped away that's when the food came to the table. Sigh* My wife had the Swedish Meatballs. She said they were good. I had the Silver's plate or Special. It consisted of rice, sauteed vegetables and steak (cubed). I won't complain but a special is a special and it tasted like a special. Like the meat used in the dish was on special at the local grocery store. And I had gotten the steak medium well. So I tasted all of the last days of that shelf life. I know things have changed. Prices of meats etc are soaring and restaurants are making decisions and cutting corners in some areas to continue the menu choices but I feel quality on the food side was sacrificed at some point. I don't know. This was my 1st time here and I wasn't impressed at all. I'm sorry. Then what we ordered calculated out to $83 dollars😭 before the tip. I believe I left $10 as the tip. The ladies running this restaurant are amazing women and I appreciated the service. I hope things get better and that the quality of food does too.
