We were amazed by the high standard and the quality of the food in Sjøbua. The little brioche breads served as a beginning with smoky Røros butter was absolutely astonishing. We ordered two starters; scallops and bluefin tuna, for the main dishes today’s catch which was monkfish and reindeer served with the fresh vegetables and potato purée. My favourite was definitely reindeer. It was a masterpiece with crispy kale, shredded truffle on top, served with bone marrow sauce within pine cones. I must also mention the beauty of parmigiano/parmesan taste in the potato purée. Desserts we got brioche perdu served with very creamy sorbet. Also got an olive oil cake which has the best presentation. Overall, I would say that not only interior design and service friendly informative staff, but also from presentation of the food to the combination of different varieties, this can be easily the new best restaurant in Ålesund.

The decor and atmosphere is warm and inviting. We started with some delicious caviar, served on our hands! The bread with smoked salt was out of this world. Each starter nearly made us cry! The turbot was phenomenal, they served the fatty edge near the bone which is usually discarded and it was meltingly delicious. The dessert of burnt honey, whiskey and caviar was a masterpiece. I expect the michelin stars will come soon. ✨️

Fancy restaurant in Ålesund with a fantastic location. Delicious and well-presented food. Very satisfied. Food is pricy which is fair price in Norway. Take note: I was not able to take photos of other food. For 5 persons we paid around 3600+ kroner. That’s around USD 360 ($1=10,exchange rate when we were there) Book a table before you come.

Cosy dining experience, delicious seafood, and great service. We were a group of 8, and feel that everyone was very satisfied 🥰

Food: 1 star (dissatisfied and really disappointed)
Surf and Turf: they served a RAW shrimp totally undercooked grey and cold. Unbelievable!! Asking almost 50$ for this? Wow… the meat was hard as hell also undercut and imposible to cut.
Wine list: we asked for Quinta do Crasto SUPERIOR…And they served the normal Quinta do Crasto which is cheaper… but when we asked they said no is same price!
The had only half of the bottles they were offering on the wine list.
Lobster soup: really good, very good flavors. We can say this and the scallops saved the night.
We have asked also for the Cataplana Portuguese dish… for 2 almost 85$… very expensive for something that had no taste at all… a lo piece of fish, 2 crab claws, frozen shrimps the one you buy in the local supermarket… and A LOT of mussels.
It had zero taste and miles away from the real Portuguese dish…
Crema catalana for desserts was also good.
Service was good… they didn’t charge us for the surf and turf…
The problem is when you got served a raw cold from freezer langoustine in a surf and turf they destroy the mood and the whole event was crash and burned

Authentic Norwegian food. I recommend the salt cod and lobster bisque. Beautiful view of the water and comfortable seating. The service is European and not American, meaning they will not hover over you and only occasionally stop by.

Had a dinner with friends. We had “Piggvar”. It was perfect. I recommend this restaurant for everyone coming to Aalesund. The service was excellent.

If you are in Ålesund and looking for a nice little fish restaurant, this is the place to go. They have very friendly staff who will advice you on why to eat. We tried the whale as a started and then some traditional klippfisk (codfish) and wild habilita which was the catch of the day. Everything was delicious.

The place is nice and calm atmosphere . The food were good. Staff were nice as well. The luster was fresh and tasty. However, it's way pricy for the portion they provide. I wouldn't recommend for a cheap or mid meal
