My son and I have been playing in various pool halls in the Cary/Raleigh area. I like the vibe at Snooker's quite a lot. It sort of felt like being in your cool uncle's basement. I especially liked the cones of chalk mounted on the wall. That contributed to the old-school pool hall feel.
My only knock on Snooker's is the price. I was shocked to learn that we had to pay $10/hour. So while it was nice to be able to get in while other places were having league nights, the cost is pretty high compared to a lot of other places. We liked it, but it will be our last resort.
Came from out of town to come shoot pool walked in bartender never once spoke to us that came in waited ten minutes she finally came over and said oh there is a wait on pool tables while 4 tables where open and no one shooting on them first impression absolutely terrible….. ps acknowledge your customers at least speak and tell them you will be with them in a moment if busy
Really liked this place for what it is - a low key, friendly, and unpretentious spot to have a drink and hang out with friends. Hubs and I went there for a few hours on a Friday and played about 5 rounds of pool and had a few beers. Nice to have a divey, but clean place to chill that doesn't involve fighting for parking downtown or Hillsborough St.
What an awesome alternative to the pool hall near campus! Wasn't slam packed with kids, the tables are in good condition. The overall atmosphere was laid back and fun, this bar doesn't take itself too seriously. (Think a bit brighter lights and a more casual environment.) Plus I think the pool prices are prorated (unless my guy just rang me up wrong haha) either way I had a great time there and look forward to going back.
Attended an open mic Monday. It was very entertaining and the drink prices are low for the city of Raleigh. I would recommend if looking to play some pool or the open mic Monday night.
