Old school vintage cool. Good fresh selection for a neighborhood grocery. They even have some local products like their own Spencer's labeled brands [Bottled preserves], Cal Poly University products [Farm Fresh Eggs], some local meats like Neiman Ranch, local Chorizo, & CA baked goods.
Farmers Market ALERT:
On Thursdays, 2-4PM, in their parking lot, they host a great Farmers market with tons of stuff...please see my SLO County Farmers Market entry also on Main St..
This Farmer's Market is one of the best in the County, and mostly locals even now about it. Most tourists and even locals only know about the Saturday Morro Bay one in downtown Morro Bay [which is mostly crafts], and the downtown touristy Thursday one that is sort of tradition in downtown SLO. While SLO Thur. FM is more a tourist affair with ridiculously poor parking, this Morro Bay Thursday FM at 2 PM is far superior.
Friendly staff in this store. They also have an extensive local wine selection that is hard to find anywhere else in SLO County.
The expansive ocean view also makes this location especially nice and sunset views can be awesome.
It is just off Hwy #1 and is easy to get to.
Small towns always need a small town grocery store and Spencers Fresh Market is ours. This little store has everything you'd need and somehow is able to always keep the prices reasonable. Its always clean and they keep the store restocked all the time. The produce always tastes fresh and is handled with care. Morro Bay is lucky to have Spencer's.
Nice local market they carry a lot of things. I like to buy my groceries whenever im at the coast with my boyfriend. They have a lot of beer & wine. I’ll for sure come back again. A lot better deal than shopping at other big chain stores.
I will drive all the way to morro bay just to visit Spencers fresh market. I love that they carry local spices and fresh meat! My only wish is that theyd open one in North County!
We're on a multi thousand mile road trip & down the road from our temporary abode we found Spencer's.
The store is well stocked, clean & organized as well as any major brand market.
Great meat counter / Butcher shop.
I love this market! It has a "little" of everything. Even has some health food products, like Braggs brand. They also have a decent Oriental section. I drive from Los Osos to get things I can't find at Ralph's. Prices are comparable to Ralph's for the most part. It's a cute, friendly market. Huge parking lot, wheel chair friendly.
My spouse and I are staying in Morro Bay for the evening and found this lovely market right around the corner from our bnb. We were looking for a cheap dinner, but didn’t really have any concrete plans beyond getting some cold bottles of water.
As you can see from the photos, the store has a charming exterior. There are plenty of carts right at the entrance and easy parking. The cart itself was lovely. Ergonomic handles, and quiet, simple push, not too heavy.
We found some cheap “LifeWtr” and a number of other fun beverages. They have a huge selection of La Croix and we settled on a Guava flavor - highly recommend. There is a high selection of unique items, some of those being own store brands, such as Apple butter & more.
Ultimately we went with some soup. But unfortunately the bnb we are at did not have a can opener so when dinner time came we did a quick return to pick up another can with a easy open top. Check out the neon lights! Annie’s is great and affordable - check em out!
All the standards, plus a nice selection of local and in-house products. Surprisingly impressive fresh fish counter - better than what you'd find at the giant chains. Interior of the store is a bit retro, but that doesn't detract from the shopping experience. Staff comes off as genuine.
Love Spencer's. Our favorite market in morro bay. They host the best farmer's market ever. We come back everytime we are in the area. The best navel oranges on the planet. Excellent tamales and salsa. Get there early for homemade bread and soup because it sells out fast! Outstanding produce. Friendly vendors. Highly recommended. Thanks for being there.
