Self serve wasn't well received by our group. The last time we had service and servers. The food was just acceptable. Can't even get a soda without having the entire order paid for. We had a group of 7 people who had never been there before. So almost the entire menu had to be explained, plus then had to enter it into the computer. My children love the place however this location its always something wrong with my order and you always have to make another trip to correct it. Just today missing items “Manager” swear was put into the bag but clearly i dont have…Just Liars over a few bucks that couldve been corrected…..dont go to this place its always something and they get mad attitudes for their mistakes like mistakes cant happen and im a very understanding person but not when im not gettin what i paid for….this the only place ive ever experienced such service. Went in around 11 left around 11:25 did order on a screen and you can pay with cash. They make orders fast and you can get a drink of water while you wait. I definitely recommend a milkshake. Very friendly employees and there are open bathrooms. Tend to not be busy and the open and closing times make for a good late dinner. My son was ordering Steak n Shake so he treated us . We ordered two double cheese burgers meals with upgraded medium cheese fries, chicken strips with medium fry and ranch sauce plus Oreo mint specialty shake. The Shake was the best thing! The burger's meat is paper thin and not memorable 😂. The tenders were barely warm and seemed old like they put older strips in the grease to reheat and they forgot our dipping sauce. The fries - let's just say it was left on everyone's plate . They gave a small cheese cup and I thought it would be on top of fries my mistake. This restaurant is awesome especially because my cashier, Tiffany, has an amazing personality. She goes out of her way to remember who I am. She further efficiently clarifies my order to make sure it is correct, even when she is busy. She is always happy to be present at her job. Tiffany genuinely impacts my decision to choose Steak N Shake (at this location in Merrillville, IN) over the hundreds of available dining options nearby.
