I planned on getting a cheeseburger at Glenn's but a store manager said we should try Swamp Monster. My sister only had an hour and the server said seafood and roast beef are quickest. I had fried shrimp. They were not split but fried golden brown and very good. The 2 owners came to say hi, We had a primary server but at least 2 more check in on us. I wish I could give 10 stars! First time in Franklinton. Driving the school bus for the Belle Chase HS baseball team by way of New Orleans and googled seafood near by. Saw this spot and took a try. The catfish was FRESH (not Swai) and very well seasoned. The staff was super nice and polite. Checked on me every 15 minutes. Meet the owner Antonio, very nice guy. Let me try their seafood gumbo. Was looking for a lunch spot for our church motorcycle group. Saw the name and immediately thought "We gotta go there". Looked at the reviews and it was confirmed. Five of us made the ride and ate there yesterday. Food was great and service was great. It was also great to meet the owner and hear the story of how the restaurant got its name. We tried this place tonight and we are we have zero regrets. We were a party of 6 (5 females ages 6-50 something and my husband) we ordered 2 apps, 1 kids meal, 5 entrees and 2 desserts. Everything was delicious. The restaurant decor is not to be missed. It was so much fun and the attention to detail made it one of the coolest looking places I have been in a while. We highly recommend getting the “filthy swamp thang” But again, it was all so good. Catfish was fried crisp, shrimp had a perfect crunch outside without being dry, it was all fresh tasting. Seasoning was spot on. Well seasoned without being overwhelming or just spicy. A lot of places just make things overly spicy and call it seasoning. Not here. The owner was in the house and very engaging with fun stories. It was obvious that he loved what he did. Our server did a great job handling our busy table. It was a fun night and we will definitely be returning to try something else. On the way home we decided to go back for a poboy soon. I didn’t ask but I just know that man uses the good French bread for them. Bet. Stopped in for dinner for the first time. Been wanting to try it after hearing good reports of their burgers. So... I went all out for the triple by-pass burger and seafood loaded fries for our table. I'm here to attest that the burgers are as good as you've heard! Had mine swamp style with grilled onions and mushrooms. And yes... I had to eat it with a fork! I'll be back again soon... and probably order the same thing too. Fantastic quality with locally sourced Angus beef. And when I say fantastic, what I really mean is that it makes regular beef taste like tofu. I had the Filthy Swamp Thang entree, which I hope the photos do the serving size justice. The flaky crust, flavors and presentation are spot on. The Swiss mushroom burger is also a big hit. My wife really enjoyed and grudgingly let me try a bite. I know the kids enjoyed their food because one minute the food was there and then next time I looked the food was gone. Nothing was left on their plates. It wasn't even a fair contest to the poor burgers. Definitely coming back to try the rest of the menu. If you only had time to eat at one place in Franklinton, this is my highest recommendation. Parking is right next door and around the area. This business is right across from the courthouse. They provided gumbo for a charity event (boys youth ranch). The gumbo was over the top. It was so good I got 3 big bowls as carry out. We travel to New Orleans often and let me tell you this gumbo was the best I have had. And I may not be a food critic but I do love and know Gumbo. The owner has a great personality with a smile that is infectious. I recommend there Gumbo over any other Gumbo in. Worth the visit. Sam Food: 5 Service: 5

Food was great. I had the Beef Cajun Cigars and the wife had the Roast Beef on Bun with fries. The fries are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside... Cooked to perfection! We dined at the Swamp Monster while we were in town visiting family this past weekend. The owner Antonio, his wife Amy and Charity our waitress were very personable and friendly! Excellent food and outstanding service! From the Barbecue, and Fish PoBoys, Seafood Gumbo, Burgers, Jolie Fries, Shrimp and Corn Bisque, ending with the Bread Pudding everything was amazing! The owner Antonio was very welcoming and we loved the atmosphere at the Swamp Monster. It was a worthwhile stop on our trip to Franklinton. We split the shrimp poboy and they were nice enough to put it on seperate plates. We also got the bisque and gumbo and we would highly recommend this restaurant!!
