We did not visit the cafe. We toured the property to view the date trees and learned how they are grown. Very labor intensive process in growing dates. Our friend was very impressed because her husband had served in this area and loved date shakes. Even if you're not a date fan, it is a must visit to see. Atmosphere: 5

We recently enjoyed breakfast here on their outdoor patio and our dog Pete was able to join us during the meal. Food was very good as was the service. We also enjoyed walking with the dog around their garden where the plants are very well labeled. Step back in time, enjoy a date shake, have lunch in the cafe, walk through the date grove and botanical gardens that have 23 sculptures that depict the life of Christ. Sample every kind of date imaginable. Watch a free movie about dates. Sit up at the 1960 shake counter and sip on a shake. Shields has been open for 100 years.
