The typical "All-American" breakfast places around here are painfully common and often feel like they should be attached to a bowling alley.
Fortunately, I recognized in the pictures online that Uptown Kitchen seemed much more thoughtful, crafty and trustworthy. I finally tried it and the brisket and grilled egg special with Rye toast was outstanding.
But what was equally impressive and surprising was how extremely flexible the waitress was with my brother's unique requests. He slowly thought about his particular preferences as she patiently waited. With each new request such as "Can you eliminate this or that?" or "Can you put the hamburger patty from this one and add it to this menu item", she quickly and happily said "sure we can do that".
Oh! And of course, they actually know that a latte is not made from a powder.
You must try this place and you might also never return to one of those tired and bland old pancake houses.

Would be nice if they take orders correctly or even act attentive to guests. 2 times in a row I have ordered 1 or 2 meals for take out and both times the sides were wrong. It is not hard. It wasn't a large order, so not confusing. If someone ordered potato salad you don't give them sweet potatoes fries or chips. Also the service is ridiculous. No reason guests should enter the restaurant and wait for 5 to 10 minutes without anyone to greet them or acknowledge they are there. Multiple staff walked by us and just stared. I've now wasted money on meals we won't even eat part of because they don't seem to care to listen when you order. Not to mention the prices for tiny sandwiches are ridiculous.

Our waiter Tony was amazing! Not pushy very knowledgeable on his line of work. Would definitely go there again! Prices are very reasonable and they make a simple meal taste and look great.

Used to be my favorite place for breakfast . Food still great, service awesome , but the new decoration changed it from being authentic to a franchise restaurant.

Came here for lunch/brunch on Saturday. I like the interior, it's really nice and modern. Service is good as well, our waitress was nice and attentive. I started off with a mimosa, which of course is good, how can it not be? My entree was the carnitas Benedict. That was really good! I had never heard of carnitas Benedict so I had to try it. The hollandaise sauce was delicious, as were the carnitas, they were perfectly cooked. I would definitely return 👍🏻

We went out for a nicer breakfast to celebrate our anniversary and were relatively dissatisfied with our experience.
I’ll start with the bad because who doesn’t love ending on a good note. We ordered lattes with a double shot which weren’t on the menu and they ended up being $7 each. They were not very good, dull espresso flavor and minimal creaminess. I didn’t even finish it. It was early so there was minimal wait staff and where we were seated was out of view of where they stand so often times when we needed something we’d find ourselves waiting or needing to get up and go ask for it. The waitress was kind but not very attentive.
To eat we ordered the huevos rancheros, breakfast burrito, and cinnamon stuffed French toast with cream cheese and fresh strawberries. Both our savory dishes didn’t have much visual appeal but they actually tasted great. The huevos were a little on the cooler side but the flavor made up for any lack. We loved the French toast. The cinnamon bread outside had a nice crunch that balanced the soft doughieness of the inside.
So while the food flavors were good the cost and lack of ambiance and service wasn’t worth what you can get at many local diners that also have great flavor.

Updated Review - 5/21/23: The Uptown Kitchen has been remodeled since the last time we were there. We were on our way back from Toledo and I needed a charge for my EV. The Uptown Kitchen was close by and we loved it the last time we went there. It is bigger now, but the food is still delicious and the service is helpful and friendly. I had the Spicy Italian Panini and my wife had the Uptown Burger. Both of them were delicious. You can tell the restaurant is good by the wait time. There appears to always be a line. I might suggest sitting at the bar if it is available. Excellent food, service, and great atmosphere…. A really fun place!

Original Review: Great restaurant! Super friendly, helpful, and informative service. We ate at the bar and the bartender was unbelievable! She explained the menu, the specials, and how they make their food. Everything we ordered was incredible. Uptown Muesli, chicken and noodle soup, and the Uptown Bagel with cream cheese, lox, capers, onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers... Mmmm!!! I would highly recommend the Uptown Kitchen!
