Caspers is the best hot dog spot that I knows. Actual footlong dogs with plenty of fresh ingredients. They're generous with their cheese and sauerkraut. The root beer float milk shake is to die for. Best shake ever. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We came through the Bay Area today. Nostalgia kicked in when Caspers came to mind. Unfortunately for me the long hair I pulled through my hotdog and out of my teeth killed this experience. My mom used to bring me here when I was in elementary school 50 years ago! It was great then and even better now. I absolutely love that it looks exactly the same as it did back then - DON’T EVER REMODEL! This place is a historic landmark and still serves the best hot dogs ever!!!! Excellent hot dogs. Wonderful service. Atmospheres great but it's slightly industrial. There's a counter to sit at and a few tables but most people take their food out. And the chili dogs are to die for. If I had visitors from Europe I would take them here to give them an idea of American food. Haven't been in years. Stopped by while in town for my birthday. It's exactly the same as it's been since the 30's, I'm sure. Soft, steamed buns. Snappy dogs. Multi colored bar seating. The friendliest people behind the counter who have probably worked there for 30+ years. It's one "institution" from my out youth that is still great.
