Chaplin was a restaurant that my wife and I have been talking about going to for a while. We were so glad that we went. The food is a great mix of casual and sophisticated paired with delicious cocktails. Definitely worth trying out. Group of 10, Saturated night with reservation. Waited 1/2 hr to be seated. After we all order we waited over an hr to get the food. Server was polite however we were never informed of any delay, nor offered any appetizers on the house. As a matter of fact the this serving of bread was charged and served ager one hr of wait. The only reason we didn’t get up an go was because it was a birthday celebration and too late to go elsewhere. The food was good, however as soon as any one of us was finished the server was in a rush to pick up the plates. I find this incredibly rude. Lastly, we were given free lemoncello shots. I'm a career server/bartender in Westport. Eff this place. It's definitely has the best food in town by far. Last night was our first time at Chaplain; busy Saturday night. My husband's big birthday with a 0 at the end of it. Had a reservation; took 15 minutes to get seated. Drinks were great. We ordered 3 apps to share for the table. They came out one at a time. 10-15 minutes apart. By this time I'm drinking too much because what the hell else am I to do? Food took awhile as well. Had desert. Was there for a total of 3:30 minutes. They paid for one of our apps and gave us 4 a literal splash of Prosecco. Living in Shelton and working in Westport; I'll continue to go out of town; to at least Fairfield; to find quality restaurants that also know how to run a restaurant.
