As a child who spent a lot of time traveling across country along places like Route 66, this place was almost like coming home. This was my first visit to Gus's, but it won't be the last. From the first impression of the friendly and happy-sounding waitstaff, to the great food that took me right back to my childhood, all around great place. Prices leave you feeling like you got more than you paid for. What really gave the best feeling about this place was the owner himself. All through dinner I kept hearing other customers say things like, "Hey, Gus!" and "How's it going, Gus!" I realized that meant the owner was here. Then I saw the man they were talking to. It was the smiling, gregarious man I had seen working the grill, refilling the all-you-can-eat salad bar and bussing tables. I saw the pride on his face at the great place he had and I had to shake his hand before I left. New favorite place to go out. Come visit for some nostalgia. Before you even enter, the exterior reminds you of the diners in the 50's. Once inside, you're transported to that era, from the counter to the small juke boxes at each table. The menu is limited, but the food was fair. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Big points for being open on Christmas but... We made a big order to go and I didn't get the side salad I ordered. There are no descriptions on the online ordering app, so I mistakenly assumed that the "Greek omelette" would be feta and spinach. Nope! It was gyros meat. I don't eat meat, so that was very gross to me and a waste of money. The "fruit cup" was 100 percent pineapple. Another miss. They didn't include butter with my English muffin and no napkins or utensils, either. And the overall food quality and taste of everything we had was lacking. Very nice diner! Love the retro theme to it and the service was great. Our waitress was friendly and funny. There was a small snafu in the kitchen so we ended up with quite a bit of extra food but it was no worry! Beware, the chicken fried steak is HUGE! So bring your appetite!
