Had the best experience at Hay’s this past weekend. Staff were patient, kind, and extremely helpful. It was our first time stopping by and they were patient while answering all of our questions. The food was the star here though! You can really taste the love and passion they put into their food and the portions are more than filling. Don’t skip on the Hatch Chile Mac and Cheese, it punches a kick and leaves you wanting more. Can’t say enough positive things about our experience here. Also, don’t forget taking some Banana Pudding for the road. So good! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Hays County Barbeque Restaurant 1612 S Interstate 35, San Marcos, TX 78666 Now, I've been to this spot like 50x and thought it would be a good idea to take my boss on Friday. Man, it was a good day. They were serving Pork Bellie ends that were AWESOME! I Love their Ribs! Both Beef and/or Pork. In pork ribs, I only get center cut. No ends ever. I love their pork chops! These babies are huge! Brisket is good. Their Jalapeno Cheese Sausage is good. SIDES: Mac & Cheese and their Cream Corn is good. It is not sweet like Rudy's, but it is still worthy. Sauces are okay. Sodas and ice are up to par. Tea is usually good. I love the crushed ice. Service is always great. They're always cleaning and assisting in taking your trash. Is it bad that I love their plastic cups?!? 😆 Update 2024: Pork Belly (8) and Beef Ribs (8) are out of stock due to finding a new vendor. Pork Ribs (8): Tender, moist, and very tasty. Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage (8): Very good, not greasy. Chicken - Half (5): Dry... Never really moist, but I buy it hoping one day it would be just that. Still disappointed. Unsweet Tea (7): Was above par. I've tried Pork Chops (8) in the past. Hatch Green Chile Mac & Chz (8) is usually pretty good. Atmosphere (9): Large open dining area. Rustic with hanging televisions. Large parking lot. Really a great location. Overall, we've been coming here for years and typically it is very good. Going to be a staple with my diet. Excellent service every time I go. And meat has a perfect balance of flavor and smoke, specifically the turkey. We always enjoy a smoked turkey at the holidays. Moist, flavorful, and super easy to prepare. We had 3.5lbs of vacuumed packed turkey breast. Took 15 minutes to heat and prepare. Their sides and deserts are delicious as well should you decide to dine in. They have plenty of room, even on busy days. The nice part about their meats is they are not dried out and unpalatable unlike the competition in San Marcos.
