The Salt of the Earth Bistro will go down as one of the best restaurants i've ever been to. After constantly driving past this place heading into Lake Placid, my dad and I decided to make a reservation for dinner to celebrate completing the ADK 46er challenge. The food was delicious, the waiter had amazing attention to detail and was extremely knowledgeable. I would give 10 stars if I could. The price is 100% worth it. For those of us who are major foodies - this is a must visit!! The atmosphere makes you feel as though you’ve been invited into the chef’s private home for a perfectly designed dinner!! Make reservations well in advance if you’re traveling to the area for vacation! Anything and everything on the menu is simply brilliant!! The photo is of the Duck from the menu and it was absolutely delish!! Staff is friendly and they take pride in the excellence of the experience!! I loved the wine selection by the bottle - it was abundant and not at all expensive, which was a nice bonus. Highly recommend and please save a little room for dessert: the pumpkin sundae with pralines was amazing!! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We enjoyed a nice Sunday evening meal at Salt of the Earth. From a technical perspective everything was virtually perfect. The service was warm and prompt and you can tell that they really put the effort in to give their diners a nice experience. Personally I found the dishes a little too busy and convoluted- lots of flavors on each plate to the point of confusion, but this is largely a personal preference.
