Ponte's Diner in Fairfield is a great place to stop for a bite to eat when you're on the road between Houston and Dallas. The diner has been around for at least 30 years, and it shows in the classic-style soda fountain and the jukebox. The food is good and reasonably priced, with a range of options including breakfast, Tex-Mex, sandwiches and burgers, American fare, and a soda fountain. The patty melt and onion rings are especially delicious, as is the homemade fried okra. The service is friendly and attentive, and the staff go out of their way to make sure your experience is a positive one. Unfortunately, there have been reports of burnt food and unprofessional behavior from the manager, Nathan. Despite this, Ponte's Diner is still worth a visit if you're looking for a classic diner experience.
