Decided to try place for the first time I understand I showed up on New Year's Eve but an hour-long wait wasn't great. Food had no flavor All the sauces tasted watered down.$16 for a small plate of Mongolian beef wasn't great. I can go to Queen's chopstick in Corvallis and get twice as much for the same price. Two small egg rolls that were still slightly cold almost frozen in the middle. I understand I took mine to go. But I won't be coming back. Hopefully other people have better luck than I did. I passed this place hundreds of times and decided to try it for the first time disappointed oh well there's plenty of other restaurants out there. Skyler was a phenomenal host and server. The cuisine was outstanding! I had Pho 🍲 which was piquant, spicy, and fresh! I am a Vegetarian, and appreciated the many options available for my picky dietary requirements. My date 🌹 had fun trying new things. I've gone to Sam City countless times throughout the years and I've never been disappointed by the service and dishes prepared. As someone with a gluten allergy, it's not easy finding restaurants that will cater to my dietary needs. Luckily, Sam City has many gluten free options available and absolutely delicious. Food was excellent but they seemed to be out of several items that were part of their main dishes. This made the menu limited. Our waitress was delightful and very helpful. However… after I had paid my bill via credit card with an over 20% tip she let me know that she would not be receiving any portion of the tip. The restaurant management only allows their staff to keep cash tips. I was really irritated to hear this. Not a good way to treat your employees. No wonder there was a help wanted sign in the window for wait staff. Lastly… the ladies restroom really needs some attention. Although it was clean, only one of the three stalls was useable. One was out of order and one had no door at all. The mirror that would typically be over the sink was missing. I would go back one more time because the food was so good but will definitely take cash for my tip. If I find the same issues as this trip, I will update my review and remove it from my list of places to go. Server was nice and friendly. The place isn’t too big and was almost full after we arrived. They ran out of menus. They have a great menu selection. We love trying new restaurants, especially places for pho. The prices for pho are higher than other pho places we have gone- $15-$16 for a bowl of pho. We ordered two different bowls of pho and a $19 dish with steamed rice, ribs, shrimp, pork and garnished with shredded cabbage & lettuce. Food tasted great.

always great food, good service, prices are average, usually ready in a short amount of time. Best Korean/Thai fusion place in town. Edit: June 2022 I think like most restaurants the quality of ingredients had dipped while prices steadily increased. we ordered Chicken Pho, fried mushroom, and Christians Choice (noodles, beef, and supposedly vegetables), the prices on the website indicated this order should have been around 28$ before tip, it ended up 38$ before tip for pickup. The broth is always great in the pho, however the noodle to meat/vegetable ratio was underwhelming. Price per person $10–20

Not good at all. We waited nearly 40 mins to get our food and we were one of 2 tables occupied in the restaurant. Prices were increased and upon ordering we were told the salads aren’t complementary as it says on the menu. (Additional $2) it also said it came with rice and we didn’t get that. Server asked how our water was….. it was super awkward. Each plate was $14. Way overpriced for the quality and quantity of food. My husbands dish was 1/2 onions and when we told the server he was like “oh.” The restaurant is dirty, menus are old and worn out, sauce bottles are gooey and sticky. A waste of money. Yeah… I have to say it’s probably the best pho in Albany but I didn’t give a 5 star because the environment and service and price are not a pretty… luckily they are not busy generally so you can come and get some food and leave.

I ate at Sam City Pho & Grill on Pacific Boulevard SE in Albany with a friend during our lunch break. Really nice decor and there are booths and a nice dining side with tables. Everyone there is super-friendly and accommodating. I had the Chicken Pho which was wonderful. The flavors all worked together to make for a great dish. My friend had the Chicken Katsu which I had a chance to try. And that is phenomenal: just the right amount of crispness on the outside, with super-tasty sauce, and extremely tender chicken on the inside. I’ll definitely be returning.

Sam City had been on my list of places to check out for nearly six months before I finally made it in, and it was mistake for me to take so long! They offer a diverse and delicious menu that includes a salad with their signature dressing which has to be one of the tastiest things I’ve ever had, it should definitely be the first appetizer you order. Quick and cheerful service was another bonus, thank you to Lexi for being a great host! Can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu, don’t hesitate to give Sam City a shot.
