Smitty's seafood. As a local, Smitty's Seafood one of my favorites. I had a combination of fried platter consisting of fried oysters, fried shrimp, fried catfish, delicious potato wedges and a side salad. Also I have a pleasure of tasting boiled goods. Mushrooms, corn, garlic, potatoes, crawfish, and a nice chunk of onion. Five people total with a few beers. Just over 100 bucks. Perfect. We went during Mardi Gras weekend, the place was crazy busy, but the servers and management handle things well. We got seated in a reasonable amount of time and the food came out pretty quick. Crawfish here are so good! And if you don't want that, they have plenty of other options on the menu, like boiled shrimp, fried fish, steak, boudin. They get packed around 4 or 5pm so go early to get a parking spot and seated quickly! This place is an absolute MUST when y'all are in the area. Shoutout to our server Chanelle especially. Girlfriend deserves a huge raise! (At least a 10$ raise 😉) You will never leave hungry or without leftovers. The food is well worth what they charge. Brought 4 people. Biggest mistake was ordering the boiled shrimp. It was over-cooked to hell. My waiter was nice so no complaints there. The family had a good time. Ticket was 120$. I have no problem with the cost but how do you overboil shrimp? Wife had butterflies shrimp, sons had Alfredo and chicken strips. Don't order boiled shrimp at this point! Cook it at home yourself! They seemed a bit overwhelmed, so walking in was already a rocky start. It took a while to be seated and greeted. Food is all I care about, so the second I saw the salad, I had my doubts. The salad seemed like a paltry walmart baged salad with the occasional wilty brown piece, uh oh, then the "sweet" tea?? Not looking good, ENTER PO BOY AND ETOUFFEE!!! Superb oyster Po boy and very hefty (not overflowing as mentioned), the ETOUFFEE was rich and dense with crawfish tails in EVERY BITE!!! OOOOH YES!!! My wife ordered the ETOUFFEE and I was thrilled that she couldn't finish it, so I had the pleasure of eating it. Then for dessert, the bread pudding, OMG, YESS!!! We started at a 2 and finished strong. 5 stars means perfect, but we had strong 4 stars. Sustain. The good- I was searching for a place that served gumbo because I wanted an authentic bowl while in New Orleans. I was told by a local this was the best place and it certainly did not disappoint. We also ordered the seafood boat. It was full of seafood that was all amazing. Feed 6 people easily. We also ordered a shrimp Po boy it was also amazing. Everything we had was great. The service was amazing the atmosphere was good. It was not fancy just a hole in the wall but it was fitting to the place. The bad- parking is a bit of a pain in the butt. The ugly- there was way more food than we could eat so we had to take it home. 😊 Overall- You will not be disappointed by Smitty's forget the big tourist places and go for something that is amazing and must be since it was full of locals. I've bought the Seafood Boat two weeks in a row. My only complaint is that the fish isn't CATFISH! It's seasoned well, I didn't really like the Onion mum, just wasn't fried long enough and you're given honey mustard. Stuff shrimp just okay. All in all the food is good. Had Smittys famous BBQ Shrimps as a starter and Crawfish Etouffee as my main. The Shrimps had really good taste, but the shrimps could have been cooked a few minutes shorter. The crawfish Etouffee was nice and a large portion was served, but the crawfish inside felt like they came from the jar, peeled a long time ago and perserved either frozen or in water.
