Don't forget to eat perfectly cooked tuna tartare, pesto pasta and salmon appetizers at this place. Order tasty gelato, cannolis and tiramisu. Drink good house wine, limoncello or coffee martini, it's a must while visiting this spot. This place is famous for great cappuccino, espresso or americano. Food presentation and tastes were excellent. We enjoyed the wide selection of small dishes as we tend to share while dining out as a preference. Interesting twists to traditional Italian fare. One of the best pasta restaurants in Portland. My experience there was top notch and I still talk about my meal there and show people pictures of how delicious all the pasta looked and tasted!! The food was fantastic, the drinks were amazing and it definitely felt like a true family dinner table. The portions although small allow you to enjoy several courses, all prepared perfectly. Amazing wait staff, great food and great experience. A little pricey but worth the splurge for a weekend away with my wife. Doned with another couple. Never felt rushed, waiter answered all questions about the menu and a memorable evening with another couple. Would go back again next time we're in the old port! I stopped into SI with one other person sitting at the bar at 6pm on a Sunday. The place was nearly empty yet the service was poor. The food was low quality and the wine was cheap, far lower quality than the prices suggest. I suspect SI is having financial problems and is trying to make it by swapping out poorer quality food and wine. SI has never had good service or wine but the food used to be better, not good but adequate. I believe profits have always been more important than quality here. It’s a shame they don’t visit some of their neighbors on commercial street. It would be an easy walk to see what great food and wine should taste like and the service in other restaurants in the area is nothing short of spectacular. By comparison SI is pathetic. While a few of the dishes were good, there was a distinct lack of seasonings and flavor in the others we ordered. We also served a very watery cocktail, and a beverage served in a chipped glass. It's hard to want to come back when you spend $42 on one overly bland dish that was served with day-old potatoes.
