The Homestead, a Sullivan Catskills classic, has been reborn at The Eldred Preserve as The Homestead Restaurant + Lounge, a modern steakhouse offering a true farm-to-table experience. Several unique experiential spaces have been incorporated in the restaurant, including a wine-tasting room, a private dining room, a sunroom dining area, and large outdoor terraces that are ideal for dining al fresco. The Homestead Restaurant + Lounge also features an elegant mezzanine-level piano lounge that overlooks the main dining area. Edit: The only thing worth 5 stars is their bar. Delicious drinks, great service, great atmosphere… but now close at 8pm? On a SATURDAY? This place gets worse as time goes on. The service and atmosphere does not match the poor quality of the food. A couple of months ago, you would’ve been able to get a terrific 5 star quality meal. Now, you can basically get the same quality at Applebees. Maybe they’re losing money and now they’re cheaping out on their food with frozen ingredients and horrendous appetizers. I used to love this place, but the food is awful now. Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

We went to the Homestead around Christmas time. The food and service were outstanding and the physical plant was stunning. Really enjoyed the four entrees, appetizers and desserts we had. Will definitely be returning there soon. Can hardly wait! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

So we came to The Homestead Restaurant and Lounge for my husband’s 35th birthday and it was an excellent choice on that Sunday Evening! We had exceptional service from the seasoned waitress who was on staff that night. She was very attentive and quite informative. The bread basket is phenomenal with an array of breadsticks, cornbread and their made in house cinnamon raisin bread (it’s to die for). I definitely filled up on this before I even got my meal. The seasonal cider on tap was delicious especially with the cinnamon sugar rim! I opted for the specials that night: Fried Calamari and Tomato Soup. The calamari was soooo good, I wish there was an opportunity to order another but we scooped up the last order of the night. Tomato Soup was okay, I’ve had more flavorful ones but it sufficed! My son enjoyed the kids pasta with red sauce which was basically spaghetti! The potato wedges were massive and extra crunchy so we enjoyed that. The spinach and artichoke dip was pretty disappointing and quite watery to be a cream based dish. We were rewarded with a new dish bc it looked extremely watery but the replacement wasn’t really any better! We enjoyed ourselves and are definitely coming back for another Sunday night in the future. This place is beautiful and I’d love to explore the grounds when it’s light outside and not raining. The food at the restaurant was below average. The duck was had, dry and chewy and the sauce was too sweet. The daily special fried cod with everything bagel crusting was terrible and had a bad odour to it and had to be sent back. The replacement miso salmon was better but still overcooked. The bright spots were the ribeye steak that was well cooked and the chocolate desert. Service vas outstanding. Polite, efficient and courteous. The atmosphere and decor were decent. We were seated in a room adjacent to the main seating area which was cold but the staff did raise the temperature a little. Overall a disappointing experience.
