We went for valentines dinner last night, our first time at Union. We were told that the restaurant was being renovated and it was moved temporarily into the Lobby of the Hotel. The seating was fine in the lobby and it was quiet. The service was outstanding from a young lady who's name I do not remember. The food, unfortunately was a great let down. My starter of $7 popcorn was lightly seasoned an tasty. My date ordered the Lettuce salad, she commented it was barely seasoned and had little flavor. I got the scallop risotto, I asked for the scallops to be coocked a little more well done, our server said no problem - however the dish lacked any significant flavor. My wife said her mussels were good. We got the apple tart and creme brulee for desserts, they were not a sharing size. Overall great service, but the food was bland, small portions and pricey, glad went once - but would not go back. Food: 2 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

We had dinner reservations before a show at the Merrill. Traffic suggested we would be late. I called to let them know and the woman on the phone, perhaps a recent immigrant, couldn’t have been kinder or more reassuring! We arrived to find the dining room was being refurbished and the lobby had been transformed into the dining area. An additional distance from the kitchen, the wait staff was HUSTLING! It was wonderful to observe their camaraderie and assisting each other during the pre-show rush. Our server, Hannah, could not have been kinder or more accommodating! The food was wonderful in its presentation and even better in its taste. My husband had the seafood (Cod) special and I enjoyed the scallops! Everything about the experience was perfect!
