My #1 place for Timorese food in Dili. Originally from Agora, the team is doing a fantastic job here and making stunning local dishes with fresh produce. Plenty of vegan/plant-based options in a humble setting. Very nice!!!! 😍

I was on a quest today to find authentic Timorese cuisine prior to the Portuguese and Indonesian influences. Found this gem, operated by young Timorese entrepreneurs, with a passion for preserving culture and food heritage while also introducing visitors to their cuisine. Ahi matan translates to "the source of the fire." I had such a nice time talking to them, and of course, the food was delicious. I ordered the flatbread made from purple sweet potatoes (which are abundant here), a stew (batar fai) made of grilled corn, red bean, peanuts, moringa leaves, and served with a side of chili-rubbed rosella leaves. The stew was served with a side of tofu and green beans in a rich turmeric sauce and fresh veggie salad with stewed spinach. I washed it all down with a cold glass of soursop ginger juice. I will be returning here again and again.

Ahi Matan is a lovely lunch eatery with excellent local food. They list a few Timorese dishes of the day on the blackboard wall, then you can pick a meat or vegetarian side to go along with the dish. Simple food, well presented, and very tasty. Good service. Great place for lunch if you live in Dili or are just visiting and want a taste of Timor Leste. Highly recommended!

Menu rather tiny,which I find to be ideal.
Quality and taste of food is flawless.

This little lunch eatery located near Dili's cbd offers a delicious menu of local dishes, well presented and cheap. Their Rosella Combucha drink is refreshing and unique! The young people running it are very friendly and fluent in English. Highly recommended!

A little gem discovered by chance walking around Dili. Ahi Matan offers a simple lunch menu of Timorese dishes, made from 90 % local ingredients, delicious and cheap. Their Rosella Combucha is a refreshing must! Highly recommended.

Lovely service, very kind, effort to make your dining experience personal. The rosella kombucha was sweet and delicious. The tofu curry was delicious
