At The Courtyard in McGregor is an absolute gem of a place. Created, run and loved by the delightful husband and wife team Steve & Megan. Their passion for life, for food, for music and being of service to their community is palpable and inspiring.
Their humble yet soulful and beautiful bistro serves delicious food made with love and skill. Steve is a caring host that can be found wandering around making sure everyone is happy. Whilst Megan makes sure that all is running perfectly in the kitchen.
All their staff are kind and friendly.
We loved chatting and getting to know them for hours after service had finished and then returned the next day for yummy oat latte and breakfast smoothie.
Before leaving I couldn’t help but ask Megan, a former ballet dancer, to dance to a gorgeous waltz Steve had written and was playing on his keyboard.
We left high-spirited and determined to be back some day soon.

What a gem within the Western Cape, in fact within South Africa.
So delighted that we got to spend time ‘at the courtyard’. As soulful travellers, we’re drawn to places that offer way more than substance. We’re after food cooked with love, people who care, service with attention to detail and a place that’s unique and created with passion.

Meg and Steve, who you can’t help but meet and connect with, as they’re the life and soul of this bistro. Their staff are friendly, ‘on-it’ and lovely.
Amazing curries, homemade pizza’s to die for, and the veg stack is unusual and (our friend ate it) very much loved….
We came back again, and again for coffee. We were only there for 3 days and didn’t want to leave.
It’s a magical spot, and one we urge you to take time to visit.

We sat down for a breakfast at The Timeout Cafe, and left with tickets booked for a live performance by Bottomless Coffee at the Courtyard that evening! And what a lovely experience it was! Great acoustics in an intimate space. Ticket price included dinner and we chose the burger option which was very tasty! Steve and Megs run a very good operation: customer focused and with a keen eye for detail!

At the Courtyard was the best part about visiting the town of McGregor. We had breakfast in the morning and then attended the dinner and live entertainment show that same evening. It was absolutely superb, the live show was enthralling and the place was laced with positive energy and and happy People. HIGHLY RECOMMEND going to Macgregor for this alone 😊

Little oasis of well cooked food served with pride. We eat several times in the courtyard of this lovely restaurant and enjoyed not only the varied menu, but beers and wines in a lovely convivial environment provided by our host and partner.

We came in for a coffee at the end of the afternoon. Steve was really sorry to not give us any. We ended up having dinner and a great live performance by The Besties. Tnx Steve for sharing your passion and making us feel so welcome!
The food is glorious, especially the pizza. Arguably the best in the WC! Wine was good, and the waiters are very friendly.
