While out running errands, my husband spotted Burg'r & Barrel near downtown Johnson City and loved that it is in the old train depot, so after driving around the block a couple of times to figure out where the entrance is, we pulled into the parking lot and were greeted by the deafening blast of some ballgame. However, it was much quieter inside and the interior is really neat with lots of exposed brick. We were immediately seated, but had to wait 7 minutes (I timed it for the purpose of this review) to even be acknowledged by our server. The restaurant was not busy and it looked like they had plenty of servers. He seemed surprised that we were also ready to order our food, so in his defense, he may not have been told we were his table. He brought our drinks out quickly and was appropriately attentive and kept our drink filled. My hubby ordered the bacon burger with half onion straws half fries as his side and I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries. Our food came out quickly and was nicely plated. Our sandwiches were on buttered and toasted buns which were still nicely soft on the outside. The fries are the homemade kind and were delicious. The onion straws were to die for - I could have eaten my weight in them. My husband declared his burger one of the best he has eaten since we moved to Johnson City. My pulled pork sandwich was very good and I really liked the BBQ sauce; it was a little sweet and a little spicy. The check came to right at $40 without tip. Honestly the best burger I've ever had! We got the Bacon fest, Mac and cheese burger and the Pimento cheese burger. They were all awesome! Staff was very friendly and everything was very clean. Very cool atmosphere of an old train station. I highly recommend Burg'r & Barrel! First time at B&B today but definitely won’t be our last. Our server, Todd, was super helpful with his suggestions and very friendly. We loved everything we got. Family friendly, big portions and fair prices…and very clean. The. Hi Jen tenders were fresh and not dry. The burger was cooked to order and not overdone. They did and are doing a lot with the space. They're taking full advantage of the massive deck that came with the property. I've gotten a few of the burgers and I have to say they are very well cooked, very well put together. Flavor profiles are amazing, but the burgers can have a lot going on, even the simpler ones. But I expect a lot out of a 15-20 dollar burger and they absolutely deliver. It's a great spot that everyone needs to try. This place has the market cornered on flavorful burgers! They cook them right and super fast service. They also have a great cocktail menu and beer selection. Our server was terrific and had all the recommendations ready. We will be a repeat customer for life! We had the Hey Cowboy burger , onion rings and the 1938 burger. Wonderful! **Update: try the Caesar salad.... I know it's a burger place but seriously the best salad and homemade dressing I've ever had! Love Burg'r&Barrel!!! Must try "Smoked Brisket Platter", & The "Smoked wings" were next level & the dry rub is to die for!!! Second time here & we had Kyrie both times as a Bartender. He was amazing, friendly, knowledgeable and such a gentleman. We are definitely going back!!! Opening the outside bar with entertainment March 2024!!! Can't wait for that!!!! A+ It's a hidden gem!!! Food was great but the server took a while to get our order and after the order came, she did not come by to check on us, not even to see if we needed more water. The atmosphere is great, it's really a cool place to hang out for food and drink. Hopefully next time we will get a better waitress. By the way the wings were top of the line, no sauce needed. We recently had our wedding at the Gather, and I must say that BURGr& Barrel did an outstanding job. From start to finish, the experience was fantastic. The food they served was absolutely delightful, and they provided us with excellent options for the bar, including a signature drink that our guests loved. The setup for the event was impeccable. Everything was arranged beautifully, and I didn't have to worry about a thing. All I had to do was show up and bring any additional decorations or personal touches I wanted. It was such a relief to know that they had everything under control. Our friends and family couldn't stop talking about how amazing the event was. For days after the wedding, they raved about the wonderful time they had and how well the restaurant was set up for our special day. The team at BURGr & Barrel truly went above and beyond to make our event memorable. I highly recommend using BURGr & Barrel at the Gather for any larger events. I walked by this place the last time that I was here and swore I'd stop by for a burger the next time I was in the area.... well.... I'm back!!! I love the atmosphere and the old train station refurb! I love how they still kept the charm and even added a little flare of their own! The food is absolutely fantastic and the service is absolutely amazing! Hannah goes above and beyond as a server! My first impression and experience has been 11/10 stars! I definitely recommend and would certainly bring friends and family here! Bonus is they let me sit outside with my best friend (dog)!

Tonight I wanted to go out for a good burger and found this place on google and decided to give it a try. I was more than impressed by the atmosphere, service, and food. It is a wonderful location with much to offer. I would have to say they have the best burgers I have ever tasted. The service was quick and their presentation was outstanding.
