Pros: staff were very friendly and fun, ambiance was very cozy. The snails were pretty tasty. Lots of yummy bread. Cocktails were delicious. Cons: As soon as we sat down, we noticed that one of the wine glasses had a huge crack in it. Then we noticed 2 ants crawling across the raspberries that were sitting on top of my drink. The foie gras was quite overcooked and tasted like something from a can. The seafood angel hair was very mushy and tasted well… like chinese takeout food. The crème brûlée was also totally cold, chunky at the top, and then liquid at the bottom. Not sure if this was just an off night because i’ve heard many great things about this place prior, but we unfortunately did not have a great experience. For quite an expensive meal, we certainly expected better quality from the food. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2

First time at Cafe Renaissance last night prior to an evening at Wolf Trap. It’s clearly a beloved neighborhood gem, but I was “ok” on it. My biggest issue was the sense of being rushed. Our waiter never was personable with us, nor did he ever ask how our evening was going. He showed up 3x within the first 5-7 mins asking for drink orders. It just felt rushed which I would not associate with a $30+ entree establishment. Also, all the food was good but lacking salt/seasoning. I appreciated the complementary Valentine’s dessert, which was good, and the host was very personable. Just some opportunity for improvement to be worth the cost for me. Visited for Valentine’s Day. Very disappointed will not return. Cramped location, understaffed. Waited to be greeted to the point of feeling uncomfortable. When we were sat at the table I noticed the napkin and fork were dirty. No one came for over 10 mins to offer water or bread. Finally received water that splashed all over the table. Then someone came with menu, but it was limited selection like a prefix. Still no bread. Also instead of coming to get our drink order first, they waited and came to get entire order at once. There was also no one to speak to us about the wine list. Finally bread came. When the salad came, it was obvious the beats were from a can and the goat cheese was just a sliver. The steak was OK, the green beans were cooked well and whatever potato item was fine as well. I really felt like this place was going to meet expectations of fine dining as it’s advertised, but I’ve had better meals and service at outback.
