I normally don't leave poor reviews like the one I am currently leaving. Also, notice the huge chicken chunks in my photos. Not shredded chicken at all..... Trash cans were overflowing and tables were dirty. My wife and I recently visited the Cafe Rio in Queen Creek, Arizona. There were only four people in line, including us. I ordered a burrito, and the employee made it and then set it aside without putting it in the heating element to melt the cheese. The employee then started working on a to-go order and did not take my wife's order. After four or five minutes, the employee finished the to-go order and came back to us. They said, "Oh gosh, do you want something?" Then they saw the burrito and giggled and put it in the heating element. We then got to the checkout register, and the cashier walked away and went back into the kitchen to talk and laugh with another employee. After about three or four minutes, other employees started telling the cashier to get back to the register so they could ring us out. Our food was just sitting there getting cold. Overall, our experience at Cafe Rio Queen Creek was very disappointing. The service was poor, and our food was cold. It seemed like the employees were more interested in having fun with each other than in serving their customers. Recommendation: I would not recommend this restaurant to others. I LOVE Cafe Rio!! This location is great. Clean and the customer service is top notch!!! My favorite food is the fire roasted chicken burrito. Enchilada style. It’s delicious! I love that cafe Rio includes the salad and pico on the side. I also get a side of queso along with it to put on top. We live in San Antonio so when I come back to AZ I have to get Cafe Rio at least once! I fly out tonight so I stopped by for lunch. The service was quick. Lots of options to pick from to eat from enchiladas, quesadillas, salad. Also, the kids can get a free meal called little nino. It’s a cheese quesadilla. Ordered a quesadilla for my wife and as you can see below the quesadilla is not crispy at all. Also never got her side of guacamole. Not happy at all. I ordered my food online and had it set to be picked up at 12:30 when I picked it up and took it home the food was cold and that was about 12: 35. It seemed like they made it right away and they just let it sit until I picked it up a half an hour after I ordered it. The rice in the burrito was really crunchy and was not cooked all the way through. Food here used to be good but it seems the quality has dropped. I think the point of an open kitchen is to show how clean and what a good place it is... not so much here. Kitchen was dirty, restaurant was dirty. Eight employees, mostly not doing much, no adult supervision. Food was barely warm, if a health inspector put a thermometer in food they would have written the place up. Will not go back. The worst Cafe Rio we’ve ever been to and we live in Queen Creek. The food is NEVER prepared correctly and it takes far too long to prepare. I don’t blame the kids working there, I blame THE IDIOT owners that fail to do their job and train their employees. You want a good Cafe Rio? Travel 15 mins further to the location in San Tan Valley and they’ll do the job correctly. Queen Creek location, double thumbs down! Wise up owners, you’re not doing your job. So good! Beyond good! We don't have Cafe Rio where I live and anytime I go somewhere that has one I will go out of my way to go eat there. I got the sweet pork barbacoa salad and it was excellent. The sweet pork barbacoa is the most delicious meat on the planet. The salad is the absolute best I've ever had anywhere and I've eaten a lot of salads in my day. I also got a sweet pork barbacoa burrito to take home and it too was absolutely scrumptious. If you go you must try the horchata. Cafe Rio has my favorite horchata out of any that I've tried. My mom also got the sweet pork barbacoa salad and the horchata and she loved hers as well. Our orders were made correctly but the staff definitely seemed bored and like they didn't want to be there.
