We moved here shortly before covid. We did take out several times, each time the oil in the rice was older, the egg rolls... looked gummy. They tasted allright if you didnt have to look at them. And my chow mein was different than my husbands. So, we quit ordering from Chans. Scrolling forward, to 2024...its now February. We have ordered twice, recently. Both times, everything was great. Wow! I dont know what changed but it really has. Thank you sooooo much.

I've thought about eating here a few times before and always talked myself out of it. I guess because of the location and the look from outside, kind of tucked away in the corner of the lot. Well I finally decided to give it a shot and I'm not sorry that I did. The food was good and came out fast and so hot we had to let it cool some before we could eat it. The service was great too. Overall it was a really good experience, no complaints. It wasn't all that busy when we were there so it was a surprisingly good experience. I will go back again and try some other things on the menu.

Only been here once but it was excellent. Broccoli Beef and Happy Family dinners. Hot and Sour, Egg Flower soups very good. Egg roll was mushy cabbage on the inside, nice and crunchy outside - but the inside was way too mushy and no flavor for me to like the eggrolls, and would not order these separately again unless it was once-off thing. Only one server but wasn't too crowded. Big menu selection, so I wonder how they can do so many things very well, unless the chef here has been doing it a long time, hopefully is the case because I love some good Chinese food. Fried rice was pretty good too. Crab puffs were excellent and good value. Overall a very good meal even though a bit pricey for take out at $75 for 3 meals and one appetizer. Will definitely go back because just can't make Chinese this good,

It “loaded the hump”. That’s what we say when something is edible but nothing spectacular.
We ordered for pick up. While waiting at the front desk to pick up our order I noticed notes on the wall like “GREAT FOOD” , “BEST CHINESE IN BROOKINGS”, “LOVE THIS PLACE”. But I got worried when I noticed “IT GIVES ME GAS!”
Woman working. What looked like every table, was very nice. The place feels old and outdated and “sticky”. We wanted something fast and close to our hotel. It was both.
My mom and I decided to try this place because we were really craving Chinese food, even though the reviews weren't that great. I found the food to be pretty good actually, and the portions are gigantic. Which is a plus for me because I always love to take home leftover Chinese food to eat again & again. The mar far chicken was fried absolutely perfectly. The chow mein was not the greatest, but it wasn't terrible. The only complaints I have are that the girl that was serving us seemed like she really didn't want to be there and wasn't very friendly, And they don't have almond cookies for sale! That's just a personal preference, but I was pretty bummed that there weren't any that I could buy to take home. As I always buy them every time I go out to Chinese food.

This was a to go order but dine in option available. Family friendly environment. Food was amazing and they provided more than enough portions. We tried it again a second time that week. I would definitely recommend.

The appitizer was excellent, and the service was great, but everything else was awful! The place smelled, and the food was BAD. Their sweet and sour chicken was just a chunck of fried chicken with a little sauce poured over it. Yikes. And the chow mein was soggy and the chicken in it was chewy and tiny. To top it off, it looks like their poor fish haven't experienced a clean tank in years! Nothing like enjoying bad food with a side of animal cruelty. Don't go here.
We went to Chans for a nice evening out. The staff was helpful. Our food came and it was not the same as it usually was. The flavor was strange and the chicken was dry and stringy. The soup was so slimy it would not stay on the spoon. After a few bites we were not feeling well. We went to the front desk and kindly explained the the food didnt taste right. We couldn't eat it. The food was all still clearly on the table. They forced us to pay for it anyway and charged 5.00 extra to use a card. The customer is not respected nor do they have any desire to make it right. It was offensive and unproffessional. I can no longer endorse chans. 1 of us is already throwing up. Health department will be notified.
