I've reviewed this place a number of times over the years. The last few times I've been, I was less than impressed. I've been for brunch and dinner a couple of times each since January '24, and the service was clearly overwhelmed. I don't fault the waitstaff for that; they're doing the best they can while being completely understaffed for the tables they're trying to handle on their own. The food has taken a significant dip for the worse, with the exception of their incredible biscuits (which is why I kept coming back). The bacon has been thinner and just... not cooked well. I recall raving about how incredible their bacon is, and their fried chicken was some of the best in town. Now it's mediocre at best. I don't know what they've changed, specifically, but I can taste a significant difference. They've changed their portion sizes while also increasing prices. I understand prices everywhere have gone up, but if I'm going to spend money somewhere for breakfast, I want to feel like I'm getting my money's worth. Great location of Cracker Barrel! Very popular locally! Often busy - especially on weekend mornings. Service is friendly and cheerful! Staff were very friendly and helpful. I was very impressed with the new staff. Fresh, delicious food, and excellent, lightning quick service! The peach tea is the best and the roast beef was also incredible! This is exactly how I remember Cracker Barrels being in the past and the type of experience I've come to expect from this chain. The gift shop is always fun and has a great selection of products. There's always something for everyone. First time using this Cracker Barrel this past Friday evening. Got a to-go order for two by walking in. The young lady at the hostess stand was extremely friendly and told me to just review a menu and let her know when I was ready to order. I did so and she quickly got a gentleman to come up and take the order. I browsed in the shop while I waited and the food came out very quickly, hot and good. This Cracker Barrel let me down hard! 45 minute wait just for them to shove my party or nine around one of their small round tables. I noticed the host take in our dismayed body language and bolt. It didn’t take a genius to look at our party and see the issue. When I flagged someone down and asked if they could provide us a different accommodation they made every excuse not to. First saying they didn’t have enough tables in a single servers section. When I pointed out that two servers could easily serve a party or 9, (common practice, even at Cracker Barrel, I used to work there) she shifted track to not wanting to turn two of the specific row of three tables I was pointing at sideways. She said our only option was to continue to wait for one specific party or two to leave. Despite having tons of options, even one immediately apparent one, this was the only option she gave us. Since one of our party was on lunch break and we already waited a considerable amt of time, we just decided to deal with it and not push the issue. We did our best, and wound up taking 7 out of 9 dishes home because we were to cramped to really enjoy the experience. I personally was sitting sideways and turned toward the table and many of us were scooted back to far from the table to accommodate each other that eating wasn’t worth the hassle. Even reaching for our staggered pushed away drinks (to accommodate the food on the small surface) was cumbersome. All in all, it was the worst experience at Cracker Barrel I ever had. It’s a shame really, I feel like with a little less laziness and a little more creative problem solving, it would have been rather enjoyable. Needless to say, we won’t be back. No biscuits. We were told the “bread guy”went home. Chicken tenders were warm at best and taste like they had been sitting under a heat lamp all day. Server was sweet (Sophia).
